BMW and M Power Owners

Nothing wrong with Solihull - that BMW dealership is surrounded by Ferrari, Porsche and Maserati. With Audi, Range Rover, Honda, Toyota and Mini dealers within half a mile.

Of course, the local drug dealers need somewhere to spend their hard earned don't they? :p

They genuinely just make me think of rep-mobiles :(

Thats pretty much what many of them are though? If you want thrilling excitement then you are probably not in the market for an executive saloon in the first place.

BMW's core product has always been refined yet restrained looking 3 box saloons that drive really well. Go back to the glory days and look at an E34 or an E39 and one thing you can't say is that they look visually thrilling and thoroughly exciting.

Cross post from SUYM thread:

Back in the UK now, and a new job with a reasonably long commute means I wanted something that can give reasonable economy, predictable costs and still not make me want to kill myself too badly.

Enter the 2010 LCI e92 325D with 3.0 N57. This is the newer engine that only came out (at least in the 3 series) in the month this car was made, and it's mechanically identical to the 330D engine but detuned to 204bhp, which brings it's 0-60 up to 7.1...not going to set the world alight but not super slow....a remap to 280bhp would fix that if I wasn't overly bothered about warranty, though there are ways around that I believe!

Spec wise, it has heated leather, CIC HDD nav with combox (again first month of this being launched) which gives it bluetooth streaming etc. It's also got the BMW Alpine retrofit kit to make the stereo not too shabby.

It's nowhere near as quick as my old 335D, but it is more economical and a much smoother. This particular one ticked all my boxes including needing the car relatively quickly and being under 60k miles so I could stick the BMW comp warranty on it. I wasn't able to hold out forever for a 330/335d that did meet my requirements because of time, but this seems more than adequate for the time being!

It's just wrapped, though I quite like it so will probably leave it be :) Especially with the M-performance grill, i quite like it, especially as it breaks up the massive expanse of silver.

How on earth do you load music onto the HD in a 5 series? Put a USB drive in and get a message put device in glovebox. It is there and flashing!

Takes most formats, reads playlists fine. I use a 32Gb in mine. It'll recognise all Playlists and list them separately under Playlists in the menu.

The HDD is only 12Gb and each time you copy stuff from USB it puts it into a new 'album'. It's like it was designed primarily for copying from CD with USB as an afterthought.

With a 32Gb USB stick everything works wonderfully.

I take it you went for the one with the dodgy service history? :p

Yep - for the money and spec I could over look a service missed by 5k.

Pros:

Petrol goodness
Sports Auto
Pro Nav
Cream interior with black gloss (what is everybody's obsession with wood?)
Sports seats/ steering wheel
Black gloss line and black sports grill
Anthracite headlining
19" wheels

Cons:
Late service
No Xenons - will dampen blow with Philips Xtremes

One more question for the night - the override on the blowers on the dash, is the only way to override it to leave it in the middle position? Such a ridiculous system to have auto temp control but an override set by hot or cold...

Sounds like it has the Dynamic Pack, which gave you the 19 inch wheels, Sport seats, high gloss shadow-line and anthracite headlining.

Ouch @ no Xenons.

How much?

It's not ridiculous at all, once you work out how to use it then its completely brilliant.

Set the temperature to your desired temp, usually 21c. Then never touch it ever again as long as you own the car. Then leave the little nurled wheel in the centre position normally, but if you want to quickly override it for a blast of cold air or perhaps some hot air, you can. It's fantastic.

No Xenons?! :o

Just spent 20 mins moving my OBD port up into the dash, few of the clips were a right pain to get off but all done now.

Getting a tracker fitted on Saturday (Tracker Locate) and a Disklok heading my way.

Then later next week I'll be getting the 2.5 pipe mod done to my backbox.

Love the way everyone pounces on people with no xenons, really what does it matter? sure there nice but its not as though you cant see the road without them.... all they are is a bling factor more than anything, and bloody irritating in your rear view mirror most of the time (and yes I've had several cars with xenons myself)
