BMW and M Power Owners

When it's a matter of 3 months or so before it needs a service *most* people will ask for this to be done, if the dealer doesn't just do it themselves to sweeten the deal.

It's not time based and could have been anything up to 6k away at that point.

It all seems a bit odd really as surely he'd have had the car asking him constantly for service.

Sukh, what does the car say regarding servicing in iDrive? When does it say the next service is due?

Hello guys,

Thinking about changing my car to a bigger car and cannot help looking at E61's. Drove a 535D for a while which was very nice but i am not sure on a diesel, too many problems and well....Its a diesel.

What is the real world MPG you are looking to get on the 530i's (manual/auto)? Looking around it is around 28MPG mixed driving which sounds good to me. Any eye watering common problems? Do they rust?

I am looking at Mondeo's aswell but i fancy more of a change.

You git! When I parked up earlier I was listening to the engine to see if I could hear anything as I'm generally paranoid about that kind of thing, and then I read that :D

Ah the joke will be on me tomorrow when I go out, start the car and hear a horrible knocking from the bottom end! :o  :D

My word just took the car out for a spin and first time engaging M mode (M dynamic DSC, Sport Plus Power, Sport EDC and Sport Servo). That is a completely different animal to normal...Love it.

Just watch out for kerbs :p

How tight is your steering rack? Is it tight?

What budget are we talking here as there are a total of 3 different engines in the 530i.

Also the E60 5 Series is no bigger than the Mondeo.

Yeah, that is why i am looking at the estates. Just wanting something bigger.

My budget is only around £6.5k, don't really want to spend anymore.

I know i could get a newer car by getting a Mondeo, what is on the radar but i would only have the TXS which are as rare as a nun in a bikini at the price.

Drove 811 miles yesterday in the M135i...Edinburgh and back...a LONG day! Since most of this was motorway I just stuck it on cruise in Eco Pro mode (apart from an obligatory blat through some wonderful Scottish roads on the way back).

I was amazed when I got back and I'd managed 38.5MPG (as reported in iDrive) for the two tanks of fuel it used!

The car is now 3 weeks old, has done about 2.5K miles already (eek!) and I've averaged almost 32MPG since day one.

TBH I've found very little difference between Comfort and Eco Pro. WHen I head down to Heathrow I get about 42MPG (straight onto an A road then motorway all the way).

My average also sits at about 32MPG.

Does anyone have a 7 series? Is there anything to look out for on them over and above standard things?

Its not for myself - I'm more a MPV person now in my preferance, but I'm not sure on them myself

Is yours manual or auto out of interest? I agree there's little difference (and little difference between sport & eco pro for that matter too, except the fact that it won't go into 8th in sport mode unless you select it manually).

I'm still in two minds about the "Sport Plus" setting for power, on the one hand it is a bit of a pain as even looking in the rough direction of the throttle sends you backwards into your seat, but then that's also part of its charm...

Just watch out for kerbs :p

Cheeky bugger :p

Indeed, now if only Paul could get to my house earlier than Sunday next week I could be enjoying that 2.5 pipe mod sooner.
