BMW and M Power Owners

Cross post from show us your motors:

Washed, polished and waxed the car yesterday so took some new pics :) Love Jerez Black, you can really see the hints of blue and purple.

The first one of these I ever saw was at a petrol station where the driver got out wearing flip-fops, chino shorts upturned at the ends with a shirt tucked in at the waist and some big ray-bans, then did his best attempt at looking cool whilst he put a whopping £10 in the tank whilst stereotypical girlfriend of small diesel engined M Sport BMWs went in to pay (presumably on credit card). Well I can't argue that BMW don't know what their target market want.

lols :)

I've not seen an X4 up close yet, pics make it look like a mini X6 with the interior of an X3 though :S

Not much stereotyping in that post then...

Just purchasing my usual service bits, oil, air filter, fuel filter, microfilter, oil filter.

Going to do rear pads, didnt realise you had to replace the sensors on these on the rear, the full sensor wire. this the only way to do it?

Going to buy a set of Pagid pads for the rear, and one sensor wire, seem ok?

BMW online/ connected drive - how can I tell if my car has it? I only really want online google search (assume I can search addresses?) and send to car for destinations.

On the BMW VIN decoder I have:
S612A - BMW Assist
S615A - Expanded BMW Online Information
S616A - BMW Online
6AAA - BMW TeleServices

And has anyone got some good tips for using voice control? I am going to read the manual at some point but have been busy.

Thanks - probably not worth it!

Been driving the car around for a week now, for some reason someone spec'd dimming rear view mirror but not folding wing mirrors.

The lack of xenons has not been felt yet as its light late into the evening at the moment, will look into getting Phillips xtreme replacements. For the money I spent and getting a 3 litre petrol compromises had to be made.

The automatic lights are basically useless, it's lights on all the time as far as I can tell, maybe a fault?

Automatic air-re circulation is a bit slow on closing off in traffic I think, not sure if it is speed defined or actually sensing particles?

I was completely wrong on the dash override, it works really well if you want a quick change of temp, have set climate to 21 and haven't touched it since the first day.

Only think I have changed so far is to plastidip the silver bits on the lower grille, matches the black kidney grilles much better. I think these are an option/ petrol cars?

Folding mirrors are an option, self dimming rear view is standard fit. If your auto lights are on all the time you've either got the switch in the wrong place or the sensor is miss-set or faulty

Is there a lot of difference, performance wise, between the E92 M3 and E93 (convertible) M3?

Sort of toying with the idea of a convertible but I've never had one before. I know it has a lot of extra weight which will effect the performance but that sound with the lid down must be amazing.

Also what are the must-have options on the E92/E93 M3?

Just been out in a 435i vert. Thoroughly impressed and I'm a VAG man. Has me thinking now. Loved the interior, the drive and the noise. The connected drive is very good. Asked to send me to Shrewbury Town FC and data dowloaded in seconds to the nav.

VAG just doesn't compare

As J1nxy says, the mirror is standard, the exterior mirrors are a cost option (They electrically fold as well if you spec auto dimming ones).

Mine are great, yours may be faulty if they are definitely set to auto. Actually without Xenons doesnt it use the headlights as DRL's if that option is set?

Best option is to bin the nasty black grilles, the 15 year old modified E46 look is nasty :p

Convertible adds 0.4 seconds to the 0-60, but I doubt you'd feel that. For me the biggest downside of the E93 was losing the carbon roof, and it just didn't quite look right with the hard top to my eyes, but that's all personal preference (plus 'verts give me a headache).

Must have options in my eyes are EDC otherwise the ride is overly harsh, an up-rated sound system, and heated seats. DCT/manual is personal preference, but the DCT box is brilliant and even if you're dead set against it I'd recommend a test drive of a car with it. The cars are very well specced as standard, which means you can be a bit fussier over the cosmetic things like colour combos.

What's the script with e91 engine and auto box combos?

Seem to remember the engine changing (around LCI time, m57 to n57?) - but assume the box remains the same zf 6 throughout e9x production?

Didn't realise I missed the model off, cheers

Edit - I must have, in the f10. Irrelevant anyway as the lci cars are out of budget

Toying with the idea of a 325/330d (doesnt need to be a sport) but would be over the 60k happy value warranty band. Not willing to pay the extra money for a lower mileage car. Unsurprisongly there is loads of choice in the diesels but only a few petrols, bit more bizarrely there seem to be more decent spec 325d tourings, from a quick look.
