BMW and M Power Owners

Well looks like my desire to own an E46 will be out of the window soon. All I can find is these kind of examples at my budget.

At least he loved every drive, init :D

Hah, no wonder it's so "rare" then :p

Also I notice it has the steering wheel from an SE. And for being "totally unmolested", it seems to have some molested kidney grilles and stuff.

Fox, you seem to know your stuff

what are your thoughts on a '62 plate 328i (good engine?)

My prediction is that Fox will say that it's the best of a bad bunch of engine options (because it's a 4 cylinder), but thankfully it's a petrol not a hateful diesel. He also won't like the F3x 3 series because of the relative "cheapness" of the interior (compared to the good old days of the E46).

Haha, pretty much that. The performance on offer from the 328i is absolutely excellent and the 4 cylinder petrol engine has a long history in the 3 Series anyway.

335 question.

My old 335i had the N54 engine, 3litre twin turbo. Since selling it I seem to have lost knowledge about it all haha - when did the engine in the 335 get replaced by a single turbo varient? And what's the engine code / advantages / disadvantages etc?

- 2010
- N55
- Advantages include, better sound (single turbo), 15% better emissions/better fuel economy, torque accessible from even lower down the rev range.
- Negatives are that doesn't tune as well as the N54 does.

The N55 isn't anything revolutionary like the N54 was, it is just perfecting/tweaking the N54 in all areas. Great engine.

N55, 2010.

Cheers lads. I was thinking 10/11 but wasn't sure.

Got a random email from Stratstone BMW today asking if I had any service requirements, replied back saying I'd just had it done at another garage (Lloyd) a few weeks ago but did ask what the cost would have been for the same work, oil + oil filter, air and fuel filters and came in at £339, far better than the £400 I was charged........

I know I should have priced them both up before getting it done but that's a hell of a difference. Lesson learnt :)

Saw an X4 yesterday.... :( BMW make me sad

The first one of these I ever saw was at a petrol station where the driver got out wearing flip-fops, chino shorts upturned at the ends with a shirt tucked in at the waist and some big ray-bans, then did his best attempt at looking cool whilst he put a whopping £10 in the tank whilst stereotypical girlfriend of small diesel engined M Sport BMWs went in to pay (presumably on credit card). Well I can't argue that BMW don't know what their target market want.

Stratstone have been pretty expensive compared to most when I've asked them for prices for work. Found a guy down in Gateshead who's an ex BMW principal tech who is far more reasonable...

Bit of advice please chaps.

My 07' Z4 is due an Inspection 2 in 1900 miles, however the last oil and brake fluid change is about 15 months ago. I don't do a lot of miles, the last MOT suggests i've done just over 2000 miles in a year, so I'm worried that the oil and brake fluid hasn't been changed for 2 years, and i'm getting the feeling leaving it till it goes in for the Inspection 2 isn't a good idea.

I'm assuming I know the answer to this already, and I should get it booked in to have the work done regardless of what the service indicator is telling me?
