BMW and M Power Owners

What exactly does your Dad want from a car? The bottom of the E60 market is awash with crappy examples of what wasn't a particularly great 5 Series in the first place. That white one was absolutely awful :p

Boo, my 335i was smacked up the bum by 2 cars, rear most of which caused second and biggest hit. Rear bumper is cracked and deformed, hopefully crash structure is OK. Quite a painful shunt.

Poor guy in the middle car was lucky to walk out, his hyundai is a right off. Land rover with bull bars at the rear of it all and the cause of the crash seems to have had plates for a moped on. Police didn't even want to come out as all cars pulled off the road. :(

Seems like we are screwed for a recovery. He even said he was busy looking at a dog cos it looked like his!

It's generally not the done thing. How much tread is on the rears? If there is plenty, then you can sell them on and recoup much of the cost of non RFT tyres?

Quite a bit is left. The BMW guy said something about a lip on my run flat alloy not advising to fit normal tyres?

To use his, somewhat vague, words, he wants a car that is practical, reliable, doesn't cost a mortgage to fix if it does go wrong, but still stands out as something above the ordinary.

I think he's asking a bit much for £6k. I suppose he could look at Jag's as well.

That genuinely looks much nicer and elegant. But it is still low spec, what is it he's after specs wise?

Again, he's no car expert. His only ask is a leather trim, 0-60 in less than 10 seconds, ipod connection, air con, cruise control, and if poss, an inbuilt sat nav and sunroof..

Bull****

There will be no issue. Just do it, on all 4 corners, and sell the RFT's on ebay, and you'll probably find very little cost to change the rears.

Surely it would decrease, not increase.

Impressive numbers. No idea what your road types and driving style is like. I did a 60 mile round trip to Salcombe at the weekend and returned a staggering 34mpg. I continue to be largely underwhelmed at the fuel economy really. Ok it was all twisty small A roads and the like but even so...

I'm surprised at your economy figures Fox, I really stuggle to get below 40mpg on any kind of trips. My 20 mile A road commute usually sees >45, long trips touch 50.

Anyone here have a current Z4 (E89)?

I am actually in a position to get one of these now, or about 2 months away, and doing my research/waiting for the right one. But one of the most critical thing is the boot need to fit my gear in, including tripod. Could someone tell me what are the dimension of the boot space?

What are A, B, C and also the depth of the boot if I have the roof down? or up?

Also, can I put a tripod in the length of B if I have the roof down?

Thanks

Unlucky :(

Police not interested that plates on the LR don't match the car? Hopefully it'll all be painlessly sorted thru insurance!

I echo this statement. When you buy an M135i, M3, M4, M5 or M6 they come with Michelin PSS (a non-RFT tyre), but if you're a total mentalist you can opt for RFTs when you spec it. Do they put a different wheel on when you choose RFT?

No.

Right thread this time, quite how I managed to quote a post from this thread into another thread I don't know!

If the E60 ticks his boxes then having a quick glance at pistonheads classifieds I can see various cars in or around that price range, not all 525 models though but at that price many seem to be basic in spec really.

You'll need to roof up to get your gear in as it's severely limited with the roof down and a bugger to access without putting the roof up. Go to a dealer and check it for yourself, it's the only way you'll be sure.

Sure, will probably do that next weekend. Don't have time until then.

My budget only stretches to the 30i, I know the 35i is the one to have but I am happy with the performance (on paper) of the 30i. Are there any must have options on the car apart from the iDrive?

The 2 that i like to look of are, I much prefer the second one obviously being much lower mileage.

Evening gents, thought I'd post up my new whip. 2009 BMW 320d Touring M sport.

Thus far a cracking car, amazing MPG having come from a Golf 1.8T!

Said I wouldn't mod this one, but so far lol...

Black kidney grilles
White LED angel eyes
M Sport floor mats

On my wish list is a re-map, dual exhaust, EGR delete and DPF removal.

When I got her

Nice. I, unlike so many on here, am a fan of the black grills. Also, always impressed by how much more aggressive, and up to date, the LCI looks compared to the pre-LCI. Considering they are essentially the same.

Police didn't want to attend as all cars got off the road. Only found out about the plate when I got home and spoke to the insurer. Rand police who weren't bothered and said insurance will investigate and contact them if required. Feel quite let down really.

Any idea if I can insist on a BMW repair through insurance?

Are angel eyes standard on those? I guess so, so you just changed the yellow bulb for white ones?

Good job on not smoking the light clusters and wheels and windows like a few I've seen mooching about London!
