BMW and M Power Owners

Thought the GTS looked great.

Speaking of Z4, I achieved this after a 60 mile drive, This painful processed contained careful and strategic driving, luck with traffic and traffic lights and a replacement for my lead shoes with fluffy slippers.

Not how a 23 year old should be driving a 3L Z4 xD

I think it needs calibrating. And it's probably showing US MPG ;)

Isn't US mpg lower as their gallons are smaller than imperial gallons?

Anyway, far too high for a Z4. I'm getting 24 at the moment, mainly caused by a 12 mile commute at an average of 30 mph, with a new AFE intake fitted which sounds hilarious, so I still have a tendency to leave it in second and play with the revs. It's an expensive smile but totally worth it :)

I thought the same, Max speed was 60mph, next to nothing acceleration, i very rarely had to stop for traffic or lights as i judged when everything was gonna start moving, and luckily most of the journey had downhill sections which helps a lot.

It was torture but I set myself the challenge.

I'm starting to get the mod bug but don't know what to do with the car, I'd like to get a new exhaust, I feel people outside don't get enough of the cars..."Presence", in the cabin past 4k when it starts roaring is simply glorious, Tyres i need to change, I have zero confidence with the one's that are on it now, so gonna start saving up for PSS's or something.

I know form follows function, but really, how could they get it so wrong?

The wheels and rear wing are beyond awful. The wheels at least need some dish at the rear and the wing should follow the body line. At least its only the concept, I'm sure it'll change with feedback from the few who will actually be able to afford one, particularly if its £100k+ like the last GTS.

I do know I'd acheive far better fuel economy if I actually used the motorway network a bit more to get the mean speed up. When I went to Silverstone I managed about 35 mpg (although due to traffic definitely not on the way back) so quite happy given the engine.

On the mod front, the issue with exhausts is that it's difficult to avoid droning or booming at low revs, which is incredibly annoying on the motorway or if you're not in the mood. Instead I put the AFe kit on mine, and it has actually made it louder not only in the cabin, but also outside. It has the advantage however of being effectively stock below 3,000 rpm, after which aural pleasure ensues. Best $400 I spent thus far from a smile factor...

17" wheels also improved the car considerably given the awful quality of the roads and the incredibly harsh suspension. Still, got some KW V3s to go on at the end of the month so will be interesting to see the difference.

Any experiences with the new F30 335d's here? It's car change time for my old man and he's looking for a change from his c350 CDI. He was looking at c63's as a step up for a period but was scared off by the running costs, this seemed a good compromise without losing out on performance.

It's looking like 36k for one brand new specced decently from carwow, which puts it only 4k more than those a year old without even Pro Nav and heated seats, so seems the best way.

Cheers.

I borrowed a 3 series tourer Xdrive for the week (work). Great handling and traction. Good options (heated seats, sunroof etc, big display)

BUT NO BLUETOOTH MUSIC!!!!!!!! why why why oh why wouldnt someone get that option if they were spending best part of £40k on a car

You buy a £15 large capacity USB stick, put all of your music on it and you're sorted. Or you select the extended Bluetooth option for a couple of hundred which gives Bluetooth streaming and other stuff.

because BMW don't fit as standard and you need a 2 month course on BMW options list if you want to spec it properly.

the wifes Jazz has things like folding mirrors and auto rear wash as std, my £30k One series doesn't

And the sad thing is many of the salesmen don't fully understand the spec list either and as a result you end up with some very expensive cars missing some very obvious and inexpensive options probably because the value of these options wasn't mentioned at order time.

A classic example here is the Sports Automatic Transmission on the 5 Series. Gives you a nicer shifter, a better shift programme and nice paddles (And a Sport steering wheel). It was about 135 quid when it came out, nothing at all on top of a £40k car yet a surprising amount don't have it. I can't imagine every single one of these orders was a concious decision not to have it just as I can't imagine everyone who orders a 3 Series without Advanced Bluetooth does so knowing what it would offer.
