BMW and M Power Owners

The Turbo's are my main concern. I expect bills for other stuff as that is part and parcel of owning any car. Anything else i need to be wary of on the 335i Gaygle

Honestly, the only thing that's gone wrong in mine is the HPFP and it survived for 44,000 with the original part. I expect injectors to die sometime in the future. Apart from that, i had a software update under warranty, and a camshaft sensor. The turbo's and autobox are killer expensive if they die, but as Fox said, they aren't known to go very often at all. However, i'm very aware that there is something called "Sod's Law" which seems to always get me and i know if i let the warranty lapse, a week later the turbos would explode!

Got any pictures handy of your car?

Decided on the Named Component cover with EC after all. Better to have it there and not need it than not .

I f my warranty renew doesn't come with a decent discount, I think this is the way i will go, but without ES. Now that part prices are dropping and decent BMW independents will work for half the price of BMW labour rates, I could probably handle most things fixing myself. Turbos and autobox are the exception to this.

That looks lovely. Mine is the SE, they had a M-sport on site when i bought mine but had much higher mileage, condition was worse and i found the suspension to firm [although that could have been down to the state of the roads in Luton]. Did prefer how it looked though.

Is it a Saloon or a Coupe that you have, as the 335i SE Coupe has the M-Sport suspension anyway (not 100% on whether the Saloon has).

Thanks, yeh mine is the SE Coupe, however i have fitted M-Sport skirts and the BMW Aero front apron, which was made for the SE Coupes. The ride in mine isn't *too* bad at all. However, i should be getting these fitted tomorrow, which should help the ride!

It is the saloon which when reading up on [before purchasing] did not have the M-Sport suspension.

That's right. You can also get the full factory spec of your car online, which is quite cool for tracking down exactly what options it has.

oooh link please sir.

No it has not i didnt like how it looked [ feel like i am about to be slated for not liking it]. Almost like someone designed the dash then plonked it on top. Probably could have grown to like it. Test drove 6 or 7 before finding the one i bought, only 2 had iDrive and from what i had been told, iDrive in this age of car was not on par with the later models. whether that was correct or just dealer BS i am about to find out.

You might be able to help me here, was reading on e90post that if you take the car to a BMW specialist for a service quote, BMW are likely to match it. Obviously want to keep the warranty intact but reading conflicting reports that some say as long as you can prove it has been done with BMW official parts [even at a independant] BMW will still honour the warranty.

Has this been the case in your experience?

Dont have a BMW franchise here anymore, Murketts lost it after 30 odd years [maybe 20] so will use the one closest to work in MK. Will take a ride down there and see what they say.

I was writing about that on E90post recently. I'm Subzero2003 on there :)

Stick this on one of the bmw forums, e36coupe is still a good source for e46 issues.

I've stuck it on E46 zone, not much help so far, someone said it could be VANOS, but I don't think it is, as double vanos is constantly variable, it doesn't just move the once. (At least I don't think so).

A few things I've found -

- It's more like 1.5k rpm, pretty much out of idle.
- It still does it when the engine is warm.
- It doesn't do it I just rev the engine, I need to be in gear (and moving, I think)

The only thing I've found which sounds similar is the oil separator, but even that doesn't sound quite right. It's going in to a garage tomorrow, not a BMW specialist, but I might get him to have a look anyway..
