BMW and M Power Owners

I managed to get Aviva to undercut all of the price comparison sites, so I'd give them a try. 5 star Defaqto rating too, if that matters.

This usually happens to me with admiral. I normally get the cheapest quote from elephant which I think is part of the same group. Admiral just price match which saves me switching.

They sent me a renewal for £1350. I didn't even bother calling them, just went with Aviva for £600. When I called Admiral to finalise my account he had the cheek to say they were sad to see me go without even being given a chance.

I was like WTF, the renewal price was your chance :D

The defaqto ratings are actually pretty worthwhile - they take into account things like hidden fees etc. I'd always pay a few quid more for a 5* policy - you can compare policies on the defaqto website to see how they get their ratings

Similar to me, i actually bought a policy with Aviva after admiral's renewal was so high and they said they couldnt come anywhere near Aviva.

I then called admiral to cancel who were magically able to then beat Aviva after all. It just goes to show that their first bottom price isnt actually as low as they will go.

I ended up cancelling Aviva under the 14 day cooling off thing.

Hi Guys,

Been looking at 2005+ BMW 5 series Diesel Tourings as a replacement for my Defender for Dog/Bike/Baby duties. Ive had a browse around the £5k mark and found 520/25/30s with roughly 100K plus miles on. Whats the 2.5 diesel motor like in these? Anything to look out for in general on these cars?

I got a fuel card for diesel so thats not an issue, we talking regular big bills here? Its not going to be used as the daily so to speak either. Any other recommendations Fox?

At £5k youd probably be better going Accord or Mondeo

If you're happy enough with a higher mileage car the Mondeo represents phenomenal value for money, the value seems to plummet as they approach 90k, to the point where you can buy a 2007/2008 2.5t for about £4.5k

If you really, really want diesel the Accord ctdi is pretty reliable and it's got a great amount of space

If it must be German the Passat is boring but functional

Ordered the 330e :D. Extremely excited but slightly apprehensive as it's my first time with PCH or anything financed at all, only so many times I can do the sums though so just gotta go for it.

Late April ETA :(.

Did you get this on one of those lease deals doing the rounds recently? I seem to remember it being a pretty good deal. What are you paying if you don't mind me asking?

Yes fairly good but paid for M Sport, Pro Nav + Metallic. £295.99 6+23 12k pa.

A lot of the bonkers good sounding deals through brokers fell apart when I came to actually order, they just seem to harvest people info then give ridiculous lead times and weird re-quotes once you actually try to order, went actually through BMW in the end.
