BMW and M Power Owners

The new 5 series will suck. It'll have some stick-on ipad like thing for the Nav.

I agree, which has ruined it for me which is really frustrating. I'm going to have to continue my trend of skipping a generation I think.

Hopefully I can get 8-9 more years out of my F10 and then get a 1-2 year old version of whatever replaces the G30...

If not, the E Class looks like a class act now.

The E30 M3 is exclusive not because it's an amazing car, but because it was produced in such a small quantity, that over the years became ultra desirable.

Sure. But who really cares when it looks sooooooooooo good.

There's no denying that.

If I had the spare cash kicking around, and I could find one, I'd get one, then S54 swap it :D

The F80/F82 looks awesome, is quick as you like and I'd definitely have one in a heartbeat, but I have to agree that turboing most cars does rob the engine of a lot of character.

First person here mentions stance and I'm gonna hunt you down and brutalise you with a wheel nut remover!

An E30 M3 with S54 sounds like my dream car in theory. However having had a fair amount of E30 experience, I suspect that much power in one would be hilariously terrifying and probably end in tears.
Maybe with some serious geometry work, and wider stickier tyres it could be perfect though.. Maybe one day..

DTM cars were running over 340bhp in the end, though of course on slicks and lots of other work.

So gurus of beemers - talk to me about 640d GC's - I've driven one a couple of times now and quite fancy it as a daily, what options should I be looking out for, and is it worth holding out for a facelift one over a non facelift? Differences I can tell are the steering wheel and minor change to front lights?

I get what you're saying, and I'm aware I'm starting to sound like the general populous of M3Cutters who insist that the E46 M3 is the "last proper M car innit" because that's the only one any of them can afford scrape by running whilst fathering 3 kids to 3 different women.

Brilliant.. :D

A years comprehensive with emergency service and £100 excess is about 800 quid or £87 a month.

It's 7 quid a month less without emergency service.

Not looking for one any time soon but out of interest, is cruise control standard on the M140i now? I thought it was an option on the M135i.

So development on mine today! After the third trip to a dealer about it they've finally heard the noise and can get it to make it every time by...following my instructions.

They agree it's electrical in nature and think it's feedback through the audio system although it only seems to come from the drivers door speakers...back in tomorrow for them to isolate the systems to try and fix it.

BMW have finally identified the irritating noise coming from the fuel tank area in the Z4 - turns out it is emissions control pipework that moves as the valve actuates. Multiple times per second.

They are going to replace the valve and pipework to try and cure the noise - there was a revised part issued so I am hopeful of a complete fix.

In related news, I am driving around in a new 220i Active Tourer M Sport Auto. It has every possible option ticked as far as I can tell...

Traffic Jam Assist is superb. The headlights in this car are also superb but I'm not sure how I tell if they are Adaptive or just High Beam Assistant. Either way, they are leagues ahead of the lights in the Z4 which are already very good. Driving on the motorway last night in it and the way it lights up the road is astoundingly good.

As cars go, BMW have a long way to go to fix the FWDness of it. It really suffers from torque steer and it is far too quick to get messy at the front with a bit of acceleration mid-corner. That aside, everything about this car is "quite good". Sure, it has a stuck-on screen in the dash and the interior is basically a 1-series but despite hating the interior of the 1er, I find it acceptable in this car.

I wouldn't have one personally but I can see why people would buy one over an S-Max etc.

Found a Z4 I like the look of AT linky

Shame the advert lies and it doesn't actually have adaptive suspension :(
