BMW and M Power Owners

they didn't had a 1 series m sport without adaptive for a test drive. shame

if i have the M Sport suspension Deleted, then it'll be 'sport' suspension which is the same as SE trim? thats what my understanding when i looked at the brochure

Tell them to find you one then. :p Or try somewhere else?

I assume so, yes, I think there's only standard suspension, and M Sport.

Probably cross posting in the Tyre thread, but the Z4M Roadster tyre size.

I currently have 255/40/ ZR 18 on the back and 225/45 ZR 18 on the front.

255 40 r18 rear and 225 45 r18 front are supposed to be standard tyre size, but there is no speed rating given on my tyres (does that mean they are super old?)

Where do people buy tyres now? I need 4 and they are coming in at £150+ EACH, on my MX5 I'd get all 4 for £150, I hate being a grown up.

Try blackcircles. I've always found them to be the best price. I always find speed rating to be a bit of an odd one. Do you track it hurfdurf? Otherwise...think carefully before you go for a y or something.

Oh check out oponeo too.

I've used Event Tyres for a while now, they come and fit them and the tyres seem reasonably priced too. £150 a corner sounds about right for a decent tyre, I went with the Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetrics when I bought my rears last, they are Y rated, which I believe is the highest.

edit: Just checked and it looks like they've gone up in price a bit to £170~.

You can have mine! Stupid thing.

Currently doesn't have a working heads up and flashes error messages at you all the time...but the reversing camera works!

I read your post earlier about the humming sound, must have been annoying!!

Overall though, rate the car??

Well following the second problem still a 9. I love it. Simple as that. It does everything I need and everything I really want.

There are some niggles - which actually seem to be fairly common ones. For example when the passenger seat is empty, because the back is so heavy it can get a bit of a vibration going over bumps (alleviated by pulling the seatbelt across it). When someone's in it the seatbelt holder rubs against the leather and squeaks. There's one bit of plastic (where the eco/sport buttons are) that feels a bit crap.
For such a large car the back seats don't have a ton of leg-room (I'm 6ft and the gf is 5 8).

However...The engine is absolutely fantastic. Whisper quiet when cruising but put your foot down and the sound is great. Really deep bellow. The power delivery is perfect and very very smooth. Something everyone has remarked on that's been in it. Very little road noise too so you really enjoy the engine note when it's present.
Interior looks - I have the dark grey poplar with ivory nappa and contrast stitching on the dash. Lovely but totally personal taste. The carpet is about 2 inches deep on the floors - gives you an idea of the quality.
Gearbox - it's a zf8hp nothing more needs to be said. There's a reason that Rolls and Bentley use them. Flappy paddles are kinda fun but tbh I mostly just leave it in auto.
HUD is a very nice thing to have, not obtrusive and exactly where you want it. Gives a good bit of info especially if you have nav active. (Replacement unit for mine is currently on order due to that horrendous noise).
The adaptive suspension is nice but tbh you could probably survive quite comfortably without it!
Adaptive lights and HB assist are great. Such a step up from the lighting system I had in the 328i.
Sunroof is nice as well - strange how much heat it takes out of the interior on boiling days!
Only weak point on mine in terms of spec for me is the audio, there's just not a lot of depth to it. However as a few of the gents on here can confirm that is banished with the H&K system - I'd highly recommend you can get the option if you can.
Boot space is...well...plentiful. It's surprising! The ski hatch is also strangely useful.

There are a few options I don't have but really don't see the need for, they're nice to haves. 360 cam for example - it's a big car (very long) and so can be a pain to park. Lane departure, blindspot detection meh. Just pay attention.

EGR valve replaced today by Stratstone - great service by them.

Edit: I really owe the thread some pics, I'll have to pull my finger out soon.

Fixed my M54B25 oil usage. Hasn't used a measurable amount on the dipstick in 1500 miles. It's always used a litre per 800 miles for the last 20k miles and got worse to about a litre per 400 miles before I decided to rip out the ccv system and replace with a catch tank and pcv setup. Well chuffed.

Noooo stick up nav screen. And it looks like an f10 facelift from the outside :(

I knew you'd like the screen. :p

It does look particularly naff in that picture, but hopefully better in the flesh, the 7 isn't too bad.

Wow BMW are on a roll at making the rear ends of many models look more and more horrid year after year aren't they?

Not the most exciting changes, particularly the exterior. The interior too looks rather tame and uninspired, though I agree the F10's is rather good.

As a early direct comparison to the new E-Class I think the Mercs' interior looks far more modern.

That new interior doesn't flow very well, too many "modular" centre console sections. By contrast, Merc have it made with the E class, such a luxurious place to sit in and look at.
