**Borderlands Pre Sequel** SHIFT keys in first post!

In need of a bit of advice/help...

Playing a game with my brother, we're both rank 21 he's Cl4ptr4p and I'm Wilhelm, and we're finding that it's taking ages to kill just any enemies, being overrun and dying a fair few times, frankly if it wasn't for Wolf & Saint, we'd have been stuck at a couple of bits recently.

The part we're at is in the spoiler below.

We're at the bit where we're trying to destroy the lasers and just destroyed the 2 bits where you had to shoot 3 things on A & B (I'm not very clued up on the exact name etc..)
It has to be the guns, but every other gun we seem to come across aren't as good as the ones we already have.

So my question is, are there any places that have better guns hidden that we have to go searching for, or do we just chance it and keep opening golden chests in Sanctuary? I've got 140 keys so that's no problem but a bit boring if so...

Guns I'm using at the mo are:

Skeet Firehouse
Damage: 64x14
Accuracy: 41.3
Fire Rate: 1.1
Reload Speed: 3.5
Magazine Size: 22

Pyrophoric Photon Railgun
Damage: 207
Accuracy: 92.9
Fire Rate: 1.2
Reload Speed: 2.1
Magazine Size: 30

Rhythmic Spitter
Damage: 127
Accuracy: 87.3
Fire Rate: 5.2
Reload Speed: 4.1
Magazine Size: 33

Double Tap Rifle
Damage: 50x2
Accuracy: 84.2
Fire Rate: 6.2
Reload Speed: 3.8
Magazine Size: 19

Get the chest opened a few times! Sounds like your guns aren't up to the job, so a few decent purple guns will help a lot. If the enemies are too far above your level then you'll need to level up a bit.

Best to use the keys early on as by the time you are a higher level you'll have legendary weapons and the purple weapons become a bit redundant.

We've opened a fair few chests already, majority of our guns are all purple, but the damage is just so low so they're not hurting them, just along the lines of a tickle! It's not the bosses we're struggling with, it's just normal minions (for lack of a better word!), just run of the mill baddies.
 
Is their level a lot higher than yours? You might need to do some side quests to catch up a bit.

I have a solo Wilhelm on the go and found him to be quite powerful compared to my Coop Nisha. Wolf and saint are great. I upgraded wolf to do corrosive damage and it gets loads of kills.

You could do the quest for Pickle that rewards you with the E-gun, if you haven't already. Its a really good laser weapon and combined with Wilhelms laser boosting skills it should do some real damage.

I don't think they are, not really noticed, too much action going on to notice what level they are :p

I'm following someone else's build due to only playing a few hours of BL2 before playing this so not knowing much about it. This is the build I'm following.

I'm not sure if we've done all Pickle's side quests, I know we've done a few, one of the recent ones was

Where you had to find his sister I think it was.
 
Completely forgot about the guns :p

Skeet Firehose is level 16.
Photon Railgun is level 19.
Rhythmic Spitter is level 18.
Double Tap Rifle is level 18.

The gun that seems to be the best is the Rhythmic Spitter, it does explosive damage so I think that helps.

I'm not on it at the moment, will add you tomorrow, thanks for that :) what is it you'll look at?

Didnt realise your guns were that good lol
Im still trying to use the boganella etc lol all about level 14-16 my guns are
I hate lazer guns, perhaps i just havent got a good one
I just want a top end shotgun with a decent clip size and a decent fire rate assault gun....

Your inventory (can do that in this game now!) and what missions your on/enemies your facing - can perhaps put you on the right track :)

I won't be on till after 10pm tomorrow night though :(

The Boganella seems to do no damage whatsoever for me, electrifies them, but that's it, does no damage. Soon replaced it.
I like laser guns but again, recently they've become useless, only gun that does damage is the assault gun you wanted that I had :)

I don't like using shotguns, I just wanna stand away/jump about and shoot at them, can't do that with a shotgun cause you need to be close up.

Didn't know you could do that, quite good really! I rarely know what I'm doing, just let my brother (shatpank) set whatever mission and just go to the objective!
 
If you're level 21 then level 16-19 guns will take longer to kill enemies. You need guns that are the same level as you are, or a level or 2 below, unless its a very good gun like the E-gun laser I mentioned, or a good legendary weapon.

When you open the chest you get guns that are your level, which is why they frequently give the codes out, so you can keep getting some decent purple weapons throughout your playthrough. As I said there is really no point saving them up as once you are level 50 you should have found better than purple weapons by then.
