Break checked and crashed

pity you can't see accident record for the audi driver, to see what other rear shunts he has had - as cheeseboy said,
you(anyone with experience/brain-cells) don't brake stupidly (if at all) going off a slip road,
presumably the intensity of the audi brake lights doesn't indicate if the car was deploying emergency assisted braking.
Silly comment of course your brake going off a slip road, totally depends on the slip road, I can think of loads where if you didn't brake you'd 100% crash.

J12 A55, J3 M61 to make two I use regularly where you need to knock at least 30mph off your speed fairly quickly.

Unless there was more going on (earlier) than the video showed it doesn't look like brake checking though not sure what is going on with the headlights lighting up almost simultaneously with the other person braking like that?

I know it is difficult to make good decisions in the heat of the moment but that was some terrible driving with so many chances to avoid it happening it is unreal - 1 or 2 would be understandable but there was like 8 chances.

Say what??

edit: do we have a winner for the ops alt account? :p

The Audi was braking for about 3 seconds before the OP made any attempt to brake. Whether the Audi braked hard or not (I think they scrubbed off more speed than expected but it wasn’t a slam on the brakes) the OP should have left enough room and reacted in a vastly better way. The Audi gave ample time when signalling and wasn’t driving aggressively or erratically.

After a few more watches it's pretty clear the headlights are turned on just before the incident and are bright. The numberplate gets obliterated by glare before the audi brake lights come on.

The audi driver was probably getting dazzled and/or thought they were being flashed on top of them being aware they were turning off on a road lined with roadwork cones. Hence braking.

I thought that - but the Audi driver would have had to have inhuman reaction times to brake that quickly in response to the headlights. Which leaves the question as to whether there was more involved before the video starts.

If you think that was being brake checked, then you haven't been brake checked. You were way too close, flashed them for no reason, reacted slowly, had about three routes out of trouble, then still managed to lose it.

you don't do things that are unpredictable(stupid, as i said) for others,
for example if I see someone too close for the braking I will soon be doing I'll tap the brakes, to wake them up .... part of your repertoire ?

I was also thinking about the reaction time but consider that braking as you leave the motorway is common and while doing that you get someone suddenly turning on the lights close behind you.

Not sure what reaction I'd expect to get but perhaps more braking in confusion was the outcome this time.

Ok so who's alt is this then?

Case closed @d_brennen

Not to make out I'm a perfect driver but I'm always surprised how many people do use their brakes a lot rather than get their speed right on approach. Obviously easier when you know the road well.

Why did you get back on the slip road and then head back on the carriageway? Or had you lost control at that point? It almost looks like you changed your mind and then got target fixated on the barrier.

Either way that is all on you I'm afraid.
