BRINK

Fair enough, I thought as much but it doesn't seem to be very consistent. Places normally state Steam is required to play. The steam page doesn't list Steamcloud in the features thing like it normally does either. And whats GFW got to do with it ><

Talking to someone a couple of days ago, he was certain the game should be releasing a demo also. Can't say I'm too sure but it would be nice to see 1. The game is tempting (especially if i can grab it cheap and add it to steam) but I'm not prepared to go for it at face value.

Decided to cancel my pre order, game looks fun enough but I can't help feeling i'll be bored of it in a month tops and never play it again, I also get the feeling it'll be one of those games whose price plummets quickly.

For the price of the game, surely a month is actually good going? :)

I must admit, every new videos brings me closer to this game. Looks like something that will be much fresher online that black ops.

Q. Is BRINK a GFWL title?

Nope. BRINK is a Steamworks title. BRINK carries the 'Games for Windows' moniker, which is different to GFWL. For a game to be certified for GFW, it has to meet the following requirements:

An "Easy Install" option that installs the title on a PC in the fewest possible steps and mouse clicks
Compatibility with the Windows Vista/ 7 Games Explorer
Installs and runs properly on x64 versions of Windows Vista/ 7 and is compatible with 64-bit processors (though the game itself can be 32-bit)
Supports normal and widescreen resolutions, such as 4:3 aspect ratio (800 x 600, 1024 x 768), 16:9 aspect ratio (1280 x 720, 1920 x 1080), and 16:10 aspect ratio (1280 x 800, 1440 x 900, 1680 x 1050, 1920 x 1200)
Supports parental controls and family settings features in Windows Vista/ 7
Supports launching from Windows Media Center

tl;dr: The GFW title slapped on your box indicates a certain standard created by Microsoft. It does not involve GFWL. Brink uses Steamworks.

It's a game, for windows.

GFWL and GFW are 2 totally separate entities. GFWL = Windows Live Market place, I think.

GFWL is games for windows live and all the crap that entails.

GFW is purely a Microsoft certification that it works on windows 7, 64 bit and wide-screen.

Lol. In other words, it contains what I suspect the vast majority of PC games do, with the addition of completely useless 'Parental Controls' and 'Windows Media Centre launch capability' that 99.99% of people couldn't care less about.

that's why most games have "games for windows" on them somewhere :p

I havent even read much about this game only saw some of the vids, but still have it on pre order ( pre loading now) as long as the unlock is nice and slow then i can play it for a few months, usually when i unlock everything i get bored then stop playing, just like bfbc2, only thing that would keep me going back would be if i have friends playing or clan matches.
