BRINK

Couldn't find anything on the forum about it, but ATI released a 11.5a hotfix driver yesterday for Brink, people who use ATI/AMD cards might want to check it out. Click for the link. It states:

* Includes performance optimizations and resolves various quality issues for the upcoming release of Brink™

Lol was just away to ask the same, no key just the button to download with thier manager.

Edit: and i aint using comrade, thing is a buggy piece of crap,

Just been reading up on Steam forums, apparantly they removed the keys due to some issue. See here.

This game has a very TF2 look to it, the movement, the graphics the art style...

If you look at this, it looks like TF2

Aye, can see a lot of TF2 in that video. But this isn't a bad thing really in my eyes, TF2 is a great game, and if they want to evolve that style of shooter and make it into something of their own, then that's all right with me :) provided it's not just a straight up clone of TF2 of course. Wouldn't really agree on the movement thing though, reminds me more of Mirrors Edge than TF2.

Not a bad review at all -

Brink is an exceptional team shooter, smart, supremely well balanced and with a unique, exciting art style. Splash Damage struggles to ease the player into its workings – evidence, perhaps, of the studio's background creating free mods for hardcore Quake players, who never needed much hand-holding.

But the clean menus and HUD have a slickness and simplicity of interaction that elevate the squad-shooter genre to a new level of style and polish. Likewise, in moment-to-moment play, this is often a more engaging, tighter experience than Valve's Team Fortress 2. For those who can leap that first hurdle, Brink should run and run.

8/10

IGN - 6/10
Joystiq - 2/5

The Joystiq review is utter trash, I've read it and I sit there thinking "What the hell?"

Like this part of it:
Unfortunately, Brink follows that "strength in numbers" philosophy to its own folly. The absolute best strategy, 100 percent of the time, is to form up your entire team on the objective and hold off the opposing force.
He says that as if it's a bad thing to work as a team to hold an objective

Or:
Many maps feature choke points so brutal that it makes the attacking team's mission nearly impossible.
There's ways around the map he obviously didn't spot for the lighter body types, because most other reviews contradict this completely.

Or:
Launching a game with your friends requires you to start the game without them, then wait for them to join you or accept your invites. After the game, players automatically move on to the next map, unless they vote to play a different mission. Or, you know, disband and reform with a new host. This inaccessibility was made all the more arduous by frequent standstill lag
Xbox only issues it seems.

The reviews which appreciate it as a team based shooter give it a high score. Those who expect the next generation of CoD with better movement and new guns rate it low. Funny that.

I'll be keeping my pre-order anyway, and thanks to eurogamer appreciating the game for what it is supposed to be, it made me look forward to friday even more.

Edit:
Gotta say though, the poor AI has been something picked up by a lot of different reviews. Maybe they were playing on Easy? But that's 1 critic that's acceptable since I won't be playing against bots anyway.

GFW is just a Microsoft recognised branding for any game that will work on Windows.

It's been there since Vista was out I think? Long before GFW-Live the specific online component was released. :)

*shrug* I've only ever seen it attached to games with GFWL. I mostly get them off steam anyway so never see the box.

Overall, too many negative reviews for my liking. And for that reason, I'm out. Bring on Witcher 2. Almost finished the 1st one!

It helps if you actually read what those negative comments say instead of assuming any and all negative comments are correct. Aedus already said most the bad scores were because the reviewers are idiots and don't know what they're talking about, while those that do seem to be rather favourable.

Think I'll wait for some more user reviews and maybe the odd video (and asking the guy i just saw load it up on Steam) but its tempting to pick it up.

if im honest im tempted to try the game but cant see anything new or very well done that any of my current fav fps games already do

cod4
bfbc2
bops now and again.
