Yup... They're ditching the barcode that had absolutely nothing to do with Marlbro... ;)

Not as if they had a great deal of choice, is it? No-one was going to be convinced that it wasn't 'subliminal advertising', at some point it's easier to nod, say "okay, it's a fair cop" and change it even if there's no good reason to do so :)

What's next for them though? Is someone going to complain that the shade of red they use is too close to Marlboro red and must be changed?

I would like to make a slight correction to the practice timings. Practice 3 must finish no less than 2 hours before qualifying starts which means that it starts at 0955 and not 1055 as is stated above. It is not your mistake though because the BBC have it scheduled as starting at 1055 as well but trust me, it is 0955.

cheers, good point p3 is 10-11

The original chassis may have small fractures/cracks/damage, after running a full race distance.

A new chassis for every race ensures that the driver has a chassis with no damage.

Bringing a new engine/gearbox to every race will also have the same benefit, though this has been banned, forcing teams to re-use these parts.

They check for damage though, I assume in the same way they check the brand new chassis for a manufacturing error, if there is no damage there is no benefit of a new one. You can't compare it to having a new engine, that would give more power and so more performance, when reusing a chassis won't have an effect on the performane, hence why they don't waste money on bringing new ones to each race.

The checks that they do are not very thorough. Earlier this season it was reported that MS's chassis, which he was using in the early part of the season was actually damaged. This may have had a detrimental effect on performance. Vettel suffered from exactly the same problem, where he was using a damaged chassis. Once this was changed, he was back on form.

Had a chassis changes been done automatically for ever race, driving with a damaged chassis would not have happened.

I can see the problems with expense for smaller teams, but for larger teams who have oodles of cash available and are being prevented from spending it by the newer (cost cutting) rules - cost shouldnt really be an issue. After all, big teams are spending huge amounts, just to gain 0.1s/lap.

But anyway...I'm probably thinking in an old fashioned way when teams brought new chassis/parts/engines to every GP...just to gain a small advantage over their rivals.

McLaren and Honda did everything possible to catch up with Williams in 1992. Senna demanded it.

Looking likely that Senna won't be driving this weekend for HRT, but pay-driver Yamamoto will be instead: http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2010/07/08/senna-out-yamamoto-in/

Edit: though saying that, Senna's just tweeted about cycling around the circuit. Me thinks someone doesn't know what's going on here...

This is sounding a little odd. A tweet from Legard just says Kolles has said more details in the morning. Why announce it tonight??

If it's down to pay why are they getting rid of Senna who both brings some sponsors (unless his sponsors cheques have bounced?) and has been consistently faster than Chandok (no matter what Karun keeps saying in interviews)?

There is probably something else going on here.

Feel sorry for Senna though, narrowly missing out on the Honda/Brawn drive last year and now possibly getting dumped after half a season.

He should be looking at getting a reserve driver job with one of the established teams, to show if he can drive a proper f1 car fast.

Maybe this isn't a sudden reaction to cash flow problems, he was driving in first practise last race so maybe it has been in the pipeline for a little while.

LOL, especially the Alonso/Hamilton bit good to see they have a sense of humour about 2007, is there a video of these conferences at all?

The Bruno Senna thing sounds dodgy. Perhaps Senna's manager leaked the news tonight ahead of the official announcement tomorrow to stir things up.

I hope a top, or even mid, grid team sign him up as a test/reserve driver, he could have some potential that would only be seen in a decent car. :)

So whos the fav this Sunday?

Button? Hamilton?

I want to see Button win this.

vettel sadly, the team douchbag should be very quick here, really hoping mclaren can cause a upset but with such a hefty selection of updates it may take them some time to get up to pace.

Hoping for a brit 1,2 though but i wouldnt put money on it.

Frankly, I see nothing to suggest that would be the case.

I appreciate he's in a backmarker car at present but he's not shown any flashes of brilliance really and, as far as I'm aware, he's not actually won any race series he's competed in thus far.

To be brutally honest, it looks like he's only got as far as he has on the back of his name - Ayrton he certain't isn't.
