Burnout Paradise - The Ultimate Box

Them screens look terrible, looks like gta sa gfx with nice cars in. Would have thought it at least look as good or better than flatout 2 or even grid lol.

Looks better than GTA IV and as for Grid that's one of the better looking games out at the moment so why "even grid" ?

Tbh the games more about the 60+ FPS smoothness and and detail in the crashes.

screenshots cant portray the shine and gleam of actual ingame footage, and like Ogs correctly pointed out we are talking 60fps smooth gameplay no matter whats going on . The day to night cycle is brilliant and racing in the dark adds a lot fo 'Oh Frak!!!" moments ..

in a time where nearly every console port is shabby and doesnt do the PC any justice Criterion must be congratulated for releasing a console game on our favoured platform that blows away previous versions. GTA out of the box was a disaster on PC, compatibility problems, no FSAA and dull colouring spoilt it for a lot of peeps, whereas Burnout will run on low specs..

some bike action ..

what are you smoking, except for the smooth edges it doesn't come near looking as good as GTA IV .
Buildings look quite poor and look at the road lines, shimmering textures problem :(. Reflections look pretty basic too.
No fancy lightning either with beautiful sunsets and reflections look very basic.

Unless it looks better in motion, I'll have to agree with skeeter, it looks closer to San Andreas than IV.

GTA IV looks horrible unless you look at downscaled screenshots though.

At 1920x1200, maxed out everything (well, not view distance @ max not enough vram) GTA IV looks nasty because of the horrid shadows and the terrible aliasing.

Yeah GTA IV has better design, BUT it's ruined by the above.

If it had AA and remotely decent shadows GTA IV would be the better looker, no doubt.

I don't know how that looks anything remotely close to San Andreas, so the real question is what are you smoking?

Gave in and downloaded via EA Store.
The port is as good, if not better, than hoped :)

I'm running 1920x1200, 4x AA, HIGH @ a constant 60fps

The only problem is running with SSAO causes that 60fps to drop down nearer 30fps. So i'm running with if off now.

I've just switched over to 8x AA and that's running sweet as well.

All credit for Criterion, we've seen nothing but crappy ports to PC of late, so it's good to see a developer putting the time in, and showing what the PC can really do.

If anything the addition of high resolution and a stack of AA removes some of the nice blur which was present on PS3 and 360... Almost makes everything too sharp and clinical, but i'm being picky lol ! It's similar to when you play vice city or SA on a PC with full AA, it's too perfect, bringing you back to reality that this is a game, if you know what i mean lol.

Screenies to follow !

The joypad support, i'm using a 360 controller, is also excellent. It's the little touches like the icons showing 360 buttons rather than keys etc. Puts a port like Shaun White Snowboarding to shame which just showed Button1, Button2 prompts etc.

Snowdog says its way to easy and too arcadey. Any truth to this?

Snowdog says a lot of things! Though he's usually right...

It's meant to be an arcadey game, supposedly it gets harder towards the end, they made the handling easier for casual gamers in the most recent update I think.

Anyone got any more ingame screenies for us?
