Burnout Paradise - The Ultimate Box

Just cancelled my pre-order after seeing these screenshots. WOW it looks really poor graphically. Car models look great but the rest of it looks like a dated PS2 game to me. Its obvious how they got the high FPS as the gfx are not very impressive. Textures look terrible so bland and low res plus the lighting choices and polygon count on the backgrounds is shocking. Overall design just looks bland & very uninspiring to me. Who cares if it does 60FPS when it looks this poor. PC is capable of so much more. Even NFS Undercover looks better and that's saying something!! (5.4 million people can't be wrong can they:eek::eek:)

Will wait for the full time limited demo then see if I feel any different.

think gta4 ripped of burnout paradises gfx style a lot as it was out long before anyone had even seen gta4

gameply wise nothing at all alike one is a sandbox game with some driving threw in

the other is a arcade racer where all you do is drive

Thought this was the Burnout Paradise thread, not the Burnout Paradise V's GTA 4 thread.

Seriously big lols at those comparing the two, I mean both games have completely different styles of play for goodness sake.

Comparisions with San Adreas was the best laugh. :D

What's so funny, both games include driving a lot ( unless you use the taxi's but I personally never used it yet) and have a world where you can drive around freely. Especially San Andreas is a great driving game, anyone who has played MTA in the early days knows what I mean, you couldn't do anything else than racing back then...

Anyways I found the controls settings and feel like a noob and now think it's a decent game, just verrry easy though, already on a C license and just halfway to go for a B License... And I've played like 2 hours... It's not the great game I expected though, should have known better than to have high hopes for an EA game (even posted to people that I never had high hopes for an EA game while secretly looking forward to this), it's just too basic, the physics annoy me a little bit and the graphics and traffic/world aren't/isn't the best either... I knew it was arcade like but I was expecting Flatout2/UC arcade not Need for Speed arcade.

If you want to see full size screenshot(s) then read my post above instead of skimming it on just the bits you want to respond to, the instructions are in there.

i had a look at your website it looks really professional so nice work, then i had a look at your GTA pics and they just confirmed to me that GTA graphically is very avg.

also just confirm i have seen GTA running on a few mates PC's quad cores G280 etc etc and again in my opinion its really poor, and we have ran them side by side Pc v 360(im not a console fan either) but enough of this soz if ive somehow upset you hehe im sure you'll get over it mate!

anyways back to the game Burnout, cheers for the menu tips i didnt realise you had to cycle through F1-F2 hehe .. ive been trying out the bikes which are insanely fast and take a bit of getting used to and its a shame you dont see the driver flying off it when you crash!

**Dont forget Burnout demo is being released which allows you to play the full game no restrictions, a smart move by the company as it allows everyone to sample it fully before deciding to pay for it... something many other PC game developers wouldnt dream of doing**

Personally, I think that is a little harsh.

It in no way looks bad in my opinion.

I'd rather they took this route than the GTA IV, QUAD Core Behemoth PC one. Although this was good for us, its just another nail in the coffin for PC gaming when at the moment, its actually recovering very nicely.

It's all about the quality at the price point and, tbh, I agree with him.

It looks very antiqued compared to the likes of GRID and, at £25-£30, I don't feel that's worth it for what is effectively a re-hashed game of old.

I think it's worth about £15 from what I've seen and, if it drops to that level, I'll buy it but not at current prices.

static screenshots dont capture the 'feel' nor 'immense' speed you get ingame but i can honestly assure you that when playing they are more than adequate and up there with todays standards.

i think the thread has derailed too much into a graphics debate over the genuine fun you get from playing it...

forget the daft GTA comparisons , in terms of gameplay its more Flatout meets Testdrive Unlimited that will run on low spec PC's.

Probably been asked already but does this game use EA's online activation service, and if so are activations limited to five or something?

not activation limits but you require an EA account to login and play onine ..

just had 30mins online doing various challenges and marked man is superb fun , even who can get the longest jump or most air time is a laugh ..

using the name 'eekfek' if anyone fancies a few challenges later

Are you blind? :| NFS: Undercover?
All about graphics aswell I see...

Is anyone even a Burnout fan in this section?

This looks rubbish compared to GTA IV, everyone responsible should be dead. I don't even care that it looks pretty decent in motion, I'll never ever play it because I am a PC Gamer, the ultimate graphics whore snob.

Too true Emlyn :( The game looks fantastic, and runs very well. I've always been a fan of Burnout, and it looks to me like they've done the franchise proud yet again.

I really can't understand the 'graphics are rubbish' crowd, it's like you've not even looked at the game, it's your loss at the end of the day. :p

Does anyone who's got it out there want to do a Fraps 720p/1080p capture ?

er graphics > gameplay now is it ?

Shame I quite like playing good games. Couldnt care less about the graphics.

I still enjoy a good old game of tetris :D

I still dont get the GTA v Burnout idea either ?!?. I mean one is a racing game with free roam. The other is a Free roam game with driving shooting fighting and a story. ooo they both have driving in it so lets compare ...... seriously next it will be FEAR 2 v Ghostbusters: The Video Game. They both have ghosts in it  :p

Looks so bland to me when they release the time limited demo I may try it but gfx look very dated which is why they can get decent FPS as its undemanding polygon & textures wise. GRID & Sega Rally look much better and are dirt cheap. If this were £15 I may blind buy but £25 for a year old console port which was finished well before xmas and held back by EA so they could maximise NFSU sales (5.4Million so far which is incredible as its a poor game). Its the same old story top console game comes to the PC and is average at best as the PC has higher standards and people like me expect more for our money. You can pickup Flatout2, GRID, Sega Rally & DIRT and still have change from what this will cost right now!
