I'm a sim racer ;) first and foremost,used to be a big FPS player but now love the open world survival genre, so yeah there are a lot of games at the minute that don't really interest me. Then there are a lot of games that I enjoy, but release with horrendous performance which does my head in. Enshrouded was great but another that performed like crud.

It explains how I wouldnt be fapping myself like crazy over some of those games sure, but at heart I am a gamer, a good game is a good game regardless.

Was buzzing for Starfield, but yet another overhyped bad performing game even on beastly systems, nothing to do with sim racing. Gaming has gone downhill massively, developers just can't seem to make flushed out love affair games anymore. Everything is lazy.

Anyway, totally off topic so I'll stop there. This game should never have launched in this state, been hearing a few creators with early access saying they were not allowed to show or talk about the bad performance, and a few of them saying the game just feels unfinished now they have been playing for a week or so.

We'll just have to agree to disagree, as I say, I liked every one (bar LoP) on that list, in fact 3 of them I liked so much that I've got them in my GOTY nominees. There isnt a single one on that list that I would rate as "not even half decent". Maybe that means I am an idiot or gullible or a shill or whatever derogatory term people want to use for someone who enjoys the games on that list but for me, its been a smashingly good year of gaming, hasnt been a month this year where I've not had a storming good time with a game :)
 
Game is a really big improvement over the original. They just (really) need to sort the performance issues out.

Biggest FPS boost for me was turning off motion blur/depth of field and setting the game to windowed fullscreen. Can play easily right now hovering at 70fps - although only 4k population.

The game has a really different playstyle and speed.
 
It seems to run better with the suggested changes even at 4k but no matter what the textures are terrible when zoomed in and flickering shadows. This is with starting with the High settings

Turn off depth of field/motion blue if you have them on. Also going windowed fullscreen helped me. Also Go to Advanced Settings —> Anti-Aliasing Quality —> Set Anti-Aliasing Method to “TAA"

This one does, indeed. Looks so plain and bare. The grass looks flat etc.
WRSR looks so much better in that respect

Wouldn't mind if it performed better by looking so basic.

Looks like the exact same issue I had. Restarted the game and the textures are fixed now. Doesn't seem to like you messing with the graphics settings too much or this happens
