Civilization VI

I've always manually controlled my workers as well, I've just never thought not to. I don't find it a chore, and as above I want to focus on the improvements I want to make first depending on my needs. Also, I don't feel the need to manically improve all the tiles as I figure you can only work so many as you are growing.

Really?

Unless you're playing on Diety or rushing GL at the start I don't see the need to micro manage workers.

I always micro manage workers, no exceptions, because I always have a medium term priority which the AI can not know. Sometimes I need a forest cut before harvesting a resource, other times I rush a mine etc.

Great video with Yogscast showing off the game in HD, looks fantastic, definitely worth a watch for anyone a bit skeptical over the graphics or gameplay. Skip to 01:03 for the start of the gameplay footage.

Edit: Here is the second part

lol mate, the dude playing is a total douche and he's ****ing me off clicking everywhere like a toddler. The other guy is trying to demonstrate and explain the features and this clown who looks like he's never played a CIV game just wants to do his own thing.

"What did that say"? "Din't read it lol". Carries on exploring.

"Oh that's boosted". Doesn't read or evaluate next tech just 'oo it's shiny lets click it and keep playing'. Other dude has just popped off a little ahaha genuine lol from me :)

Sorry, but it doesn't look fantastic at all. Step back to me visually.

But a step forward in so many other areas of the game. Visuals were always a hot topic when it came to peoples opinions.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I thought they covered quite a lot in 15 minutes, such as tech tree, civic system with government and cards, touching on religion, showing the strategic view, exploration, different units, workers, roads, promotions, boosting techs, etc. They also spend time hovering over tooltips. Their idle banter can be a bit droll but otherwise it shows off the game very well.

I accept that. But I'm tough customer who would like great visuals & gameplay. The way the map fades and changes is good, but the actual textures and art just looks blurry mobile type stuff. Not my cup of tea then.

Maybe the ai and mechanics will be so good this time it doesnt have to cheat on higher difficulties, but I'd still be playing thinking why'd they go for a blurred look.

I just guess I've never really seen the perfect civ. I generally thought 2 was great, but ever since then they seem to improve in some areas and regress in others. Shame.

Yeah going with the previous games sometimes they tend to try to reinvent the wheel when the system in place was already good enough. I'd agree the textures just aren't good enough, hoping they improve but I doubt it at this stage.

You liked the tech tree then? To me, it looks like a tower defense mobile game tech tree. Basic, few options, simple bonuses.

I suspect this Civ will be released on the mobile market too.

Isn't the Tech Tree simplified purely because a lot of the 'techs' are now part of the Civil/Government Tree? So instead of having one long tree you have to decide between investing in tech or social? Apologises if I've remember that wrong, but I'm pretty sure that is the reason.

Watched a few vids on this and it's hooked me back into playing Civ V again. I thought I'd escaped it :(.

Anyway, the game will no doubt be purchased as I've sunk too many hours into 4 and 5 to ignore this. Not sure on the art style still, it does seem too basic or something.

Yeah this is the reason. They have a lot of stuff in the new Civic system. But even so I don't find the tech tree dumbed down at all. Going from the Ancient era techs there are the same amount in Civ 6 as there are in Civ 5.

Also, new Civ video! Frederick Barbarossa for Germany.

Getting very excited now for this, thousands of hours put into the Civ series so far so very much looking forward to this iteration.

So, with Germany, thats 10 of the 18 civs revealed. 8 to go. I wonder if the 18th one revealed will be a surprise unexpected one.

Deus Ex, Battlefield 1, Civ 6...the remainder of my year of gaming is looking good :)

Huh? It looks almost identical to the Civ V tree to me? Pre-requisites, multiple paths, and techs unlocking visibility of resources, units, buildings and tile upgrades. Just like Civ V.

What's your problem with that?
