CL Final *Spoilers*

There are several reasons you can be sent off. Off the top of my head:

Serious foul play. Ungentlemanly conduct. Bringing the game into disripute. Denying an attacker a clear goalscoring opportunity. Fouling an attacker when you are the last man.

I'd say Gattuso was at least guilty of three of those. The 2nd, 4th and 5th.

I thought about backing them. Probably would have had I been at home. Although they drew rather than winning because it goes on the score at full time.

I backed Man City when they went 3-0 down at Spurs and had a man sent off at half time.

Look pal do you want me to say we were lucky?

then YES we were.

right now we are not as big as Chelsea, Milan, Juve or man United, were not as rich, and we certainly aint as good a footballing side.

all we have to balance that out is our players Hearts and our managers Head and a nice slice of Luck, ask the united fans about that, they got killed by Bayern Munich for 89 mins and still won.

On paper we shouldnt have beaten juve, chelsea or Milan, but then why would we bother loving this game if the result matched the paper every time.

We are the champions of europe in an excellent final and that is all that matters to me

I'm not taking anything away from Liverpool here i'm just saying Milan played the better. Football is a funny game Sometimes teams deseve wins sometimes they dont.

just been thinking this morning, its going to be so satisfying taking 6 points of the champions of europe next season :D

hehe You can try, but with the new cash available and our new prestige it wont be the same bunch of players you seen last night sir, what u gonna buy with Glazy's 20 million :p

i think milan undoubtably played the better football, but liverpool deserved the win. if you cant hold onto a 3-0 lead, you dont deserve it imo. congrats to liverpool.

hehe I created a new drink I like this morning it involves Nescafe Latte and Baileys, it tastes almost asgood as being a european champion feels, I shall call it a "raffy caffey" TM in honour of the real special one

So Should Liverpool be allowed in the CL next season now?

I dont think they should. UEFA are firm on this and they wont change the rules.

The only way i think they might get pressured into allowing them in is if they make Arsenal go for a playoff too. Not sure how that would work though.

The Champions League is is what it says it is, its for the best teams out of the countries. If Liverpool cant make it why should they be allowed in?

The champions league is not what it says it is, if that were the case, only champions would be entered. What have Man Utd or Everton won this season? Not having a go at Man Utd or Everton here, just using them as an example :)

I am not saying they shouldn't be in there, just making a point that the Champions League isn't very well named ;)

I've just watched it all again -ff through 1st half :) and dammit whilst doing constant rewinds and replays of 'that' 5 mins have,in my still semi inebriated state, managed to record over the Smicer goal  Have the replays of it,but not the live action.

Anyhow my 2ps worth on the incidents.
I don't think the handball was a penalty, but you do have to wonder what on earth he was doing lying there in the first place,it's not as if he went down to make a tackle,he just went down to get in the way - strange tactic, but it worked for him.We just went to sleep then and let them ghost past us for their second.
Which is exactly what happened for our second -with roles reversed, this time Milan went to sleep when they didn't get a whistle they were expecting.

Whoever said Gerrard dived is either blind or having a laugh.Whilst it is not unknown for Stevie to do the occasional one,not this time.It was as cynical a take out as you will see,Gattusso made no attempt for the ball,he went straight for Gerrards ankle.Should have been a straight red for a professional foul.
The only complaint Milan can have is over the Pirlo peno,Dude was closer to the spot than the goal-line :D

Comedy moment of watching the replay was when the teams came out for the second half, close up of Ancelloti ambling along chewing on his gum 'not much for him to worry about' :D

I didn't manage to watch all of the match I'm afraid as I had other things to sort out but I did catch all of extra time plus the penalties and the replays of the goals. Well done to Liverpool, a remarkable fightback and well won in the end but from what I saw Milan were rather unlucky since they did appear to be the dominant team for most of extra time.

I can't say I was overly impressed with what I took to be Dudek's gamesmanship especially on the penalties, he may have been sticking just within the letter of the law with his movements for most of the penalties but on at least a couple he went forwards before the ball was struck. I could be wrong but I thought that any forward movement from the goalkeeper meant the penalty had to be retaken?

Overall though congratulations to Liverpool on their win :)

I think it's difficult for the keeper when players are doing these 'stuttering' run-ups as it's harder for the keeper to anticipate when to move forward.
