Clocking Advice/Tips Needed

Is this your OCZ ram?

OCZ 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-072-OC&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=

- 800MHz DDR2
- CL 4-4-4-15 (CAS-TRCD-TRP-TRAS)
- Platinum Mirrored XTC* Heatspreader
- OCZ Lifetime Warranty
- 1.9-2.0 Volts
- 240 Pin DIMM
- OCZ Enhanced Latency Technology
- 2.2V EVP**

At present what is the NB voltage set at?

Running 4x1 adds more strain to the NB chipset controller vs 2x1. You may need to increment in NB voltage

Loosen the timings first in the Bios and restress. Post back your findings. make sure you write down current voltages ie NB ect for your reference.

Yes (OCZ 2GB Kit (2x1GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 CL 4-4-4-15 PLATINUM XTC with LIFETIME WARRANTY).

The NB voltage is 1.55 I think, but I will reboot now and double check.

Hi,

I've changed ram timings to 5-5-5-23 and the ram voltage is set at 2.10v and if needs be I'll up the ram voltage to 2.20v later.

I've just run prime and it ran for the first time without the BSOD or rebooting so I presume its a ram problem.

Here is a screen shot:

Just found a problem, well not a major one but C1E Support was on and the Asus software I installed was holding back the OC. When the temps hit 70C the clock went from 3.6 back to default 2.4 hence the good temps and I didnt notice this until I looked close at the above pic.

Anyway, I sorted out that problem but now the temps are hiting 74-74-60-60 and the system reboots with the above settings?

Not my day and I thought I was going for gold as well :(

Ok, increased the NB to 1.55v and the system froze with the following temps:

Idle: 44-43-40-39

Load: 74-74-70-70

Increased the NB to 1.70v (max) and the systems was as above but the system didn't freeze but rebooted.

Could it be a temp problem!

The side of the case is off.

Regards.

Ummm I'll have another look but removing and resetting the cooler I need to keep using paist and its going slowly, dont want to run out mid way.

Checking now or is there a way of checking visually?

PS,

As a side note, the CPU has been lapped but not the cooler, the first Freezer 7 cooler I did lap but the temps went up so I purchased a new one and thats what Im using now.

Could use the lapped one as a test so both surfaces are lapped.
