COD Black Ops looks pretty good on PC

Same here, last time i did play it it was still very laggy/jerky, now it just ctd's when launched from steam. Think ill give up on this one tbh. Played a bit of cod4 and enjoyed it, but most of my gaming now is on bfbc2, with a little bit of moh 2010 threw in now and again.
 
I know it seems like a step backwards but try running it with windows xp as it runs so much better with no laggy/jerky effects plus the FPS goes up by around 20% :)

This.

It's like a new game. I just made a small partition and only use XP to play this game. I reckon at least an extra 25fps can be had but just sooo much slicker.
 
I have not played BlackOps in about 3 weeks now i have got back into playing Battlefield
Bad Company2 and now im playing it, i cant remember why i ever wanted to play BlackOps
 
Black ops runs like rubbish. The game has such bad input lag and negative acceleration. BFBC2 Also feels clunky. BFBC2 has had its negative acceleration fixed though but it still feels like accuracy is not 100%. That is what you get with a console port that has not been properly worked on for the pc version.
 
I have found BO to be bad in the past...

On release it ran perfectly for me, streaming smoothly at 60+fps and no problems. Then the patches started coming out and it killed my game - It wasn't untill the latest patch just before the DLC was released that it started working smoothly again...

So now I'm happy as larry - nice and responsive for me, smooth play, no problem.

My main point isn't to sound smug - the point is that they really need to stop faffing around with the blimmin thing!!
Spend time on a game - delay it if must - but release it working in the first place instead of messing around some who can't run it and ruining it later for those of us that could to start with!

Ugh.

I've boycotted the DLC - but if, in May, I see a great deal with both packs for the price of one I may cave lol - I like the game :) so hate me!
I guess that being a huge Total War fan, which have had many of the same problems, I've become a bit used to waiting for stuff to work later on :P Doesn't mean I don't wish stuff ran out of the box like they used to!

Just an observation....last night was getting some directx crashes so i took the overclock off cpu and gpu.

Kept the same settings and noticed that the game was dipping below the 140 FPS limit i had set. Not by much but it was def dipping.

I put the cpu upto 4GHz and it stopped.

So a 2600K at stock will slightly bottleneck a crossfired 6950/70 setup on black ops?

Anyone else experienced this or have any opinions?

Its a multi-platform game which includes consoles, therefore the game relies on CPU processing as opposed to games designed exclusively for the PC, which use 100% of the GPU where its needed and less CPU. Higher-clocks and more cores are win in Blops and also systems that use less resources (Win XP rigs for example) seem to fare better.

On another note, is anybody else suffering insane lag at the start of every match? Settles down after a minute or two but it's like this all the time for me :(
 
6 months of optimization patches later and I still can't run it above 20 fps.
My system can pull Crysis 2 on medium setting comfortably but nope, Black Ops just won't have it even after doing all of the config tweaks i've been reccomended.

-1 point for Treyarch. :\
