Hi all :)
I'm interested in buying the Clevo M860TU (Ultima Mobile).
I just want to hear some feedback from some people who have bought this laptop from OCUK, for example customer service, any problems such as HD temperatures, it would be much appreciated :)

Thanks

There have been a lot of comments in the last few pages about people who have bought and are currently using this laptop. Issues such as customer service and HDD temps have been commented on :)

has there been any news on the cpu's?

I phoned a while back and was told 5-10 working days but still no word on my order.

anyone got their order sent recently?

You sir are a legend. For today is my birthday and I want one. Could you post your spec and its games handling up too please? :p

Happy Birthday!

Spec I chose was.

P8400 processor
2GB ram
Intel GMA X4500HD

I probably wont be playing too many games on it, and if so, it'll be old ones. I will however run a 3D mark 06 on it as part of my "mini-review". If there is any specific you want me to try, I'd be happy to download a demo and see how it works.

Also, its been shipped today! I chose a Wednesday delivery date on the order, but hopefully it'll get here tomorrow instead.

ive no experience from the x4500 intel gfx even tho my motherboard on my desktop has it i certainly wouldnt be expecting much from it, as the difference from gma 950 to x3100 wasnt great i think the biggest advantage is the ability to do HD video(to a certain degree) rather than gaming but then again a lot of that is down to intel's drivers but id love to see it all the same :)

Hey, its me again.

I have my Laptop! And i must say that it is very nice, loving it so far. I'll post some pictures tomorrow, after i've run things like 3dmark (am undervolting at the moment so a little busy)

But so far, everything is fantastic. Took a little bit to set up, had a BSOD, but that was because a BIOS setting pointed at Vista, when I was trying to install XP instead.

Wireless with Intel program is a little dodgy, so i've disabled it and am using just the inbuilt XP software instead

Speakers are really good for a laptop this size, although it does feel a bit heavier than others. Build is very solid, no flex at all.

Any specific questions, feel free to ask. Only negatives so far are the intel wireless drivers, and lack of a physical volume control.

Awesome. Pics would be good :) Which hard drive did you go for - and whats the boot time like? Also, could you weigh it? I don't recall seeing a weight on the ocuk specs..

thanks

These laptops look pretty nice - seem a fairly good alternative to a desktop if space is at a premium! :)

Actually for anyone worrying about the x4500hd chipset's HD performance - don't, it is excellent. Having played some 1080p videos i have had very smooth playback and sufferde no stutters. CPU usage sat at around 20% and never tipped over 30%.

Not sure about gaming performance but i will give 3DMark06 a bash when i get the chance.

Finally, i must just point out that i'm using the x4500HD on intels 'Fly Creek' mini itx board with an e7200 rather than a laptop.

Well, i've been using it for a day now, so here are some thoughts.

Laptop boot time I would say is average. Took 45 seconds to reach the WinXP login, and that includes the time it took to choose WinXP from the boot menu (dual booting Ubuntu and XP at the moment)

I've tried to get both 3D mark05 and 06 running without success. Battle at proxycon runs, but the program cuts out in the next segment.

I'm installing C&C generals right now, I'll mention how that works soon as an indicator of performance. Like the other poster said though, HD video runs fine, so I imagine that this really isn't a gaming performance notebook.

Weight is a little over 2kg i believe, don't have any way of testing this out properly, as the only scales we have are bathroom ones, and so not very accurate for tasks such as this.

Heat isn't much of an issue in general notebook use. Browsing the net/watching video is quite cool, and it only starts to get too warm when the DVD is spinning/general high CPU use. Basic temp gets to 79C when it is at full pelt, but I've brought it down to about 65C using undervolting.

Battery is a little disappointing, but then it is a 4 cell, where as I would imagine a 6 cell/9 cell would really help in bringing the life up. Haven't tested it out properly so far yet though.

Typing is comfortable when at a desk, and although this is my first laptop, I have used a few others and this seems good to me. Making a few mistakes here and there, but I'm slowly getting better at it!

Screen is very bright at maximum, and so usually I'm using it on level 2 brightness, out of about 7/8.

DVD drive spins quite loudly however, so I would recommend using headphones if watching a DVD.

Considering the price, aesthetic and general overall quality, I'd give this notebook a 8/10. Its biggest let downs are the lack of physical volume control, slightly small arrow keys, and small standard battery. But very good for the price, considering a Dell XPS1330 is £700 for lower spec, whilst this is £569!

Hopefully in the future i'll upgrade the 250GB HDD in this to a SSD, and then I would imagine it would get even better.

Pictures didn't turn out too well, i'll try and get some better ones, but it is the same laptop as was posted earlier on the German website.

Any chance of the 13" laptops coming with a better graphics card in future? I would like to get a 13"/14" laptop with a decent graphics card (something around a HD3650/8600GT) but there doesn't seem to be anything really. (anywhere!)
