I have done countless over the years! Can walk you through it. If you are used to plugging in Ram/PCI cards its nothing new ;)
The only slight difference is plugging the antenna wires onto the cards but that is still very easy

Also check with OCUK about the warranty, but I am sure you can upgrade CPU/RAM/HD/Cards without voiding the machines warranty. As long as you havent damaged the laptop in the upgrading process

You can unfortunately count me in on this bandwagon :( I'd been keeping up to date on this problem whilst attempting to install vista. Now I've finally got that done and trying to install the drivers it simple says that it isn't found :(

I've played with numerous wireless cards too, I'd hope they'd just send it out, but, if I were them, I wouldn't support people playing with they're new, shiny machines...

Yo guys,

For all with the wireless issues its due to a slight model change from the first and second batches and the system not updating correctly. (Bit late, but weve fixed it so it can't happen again)

All customers who are affected are being contacted by telephone to be offered a wireless card and guide (written by me and Slackers late last night, very good if I may say so!) or if they are not confident fitting it themselves we can arrange to fit it for you.

All laptops shipping now will have the wireless module installed and tested.

My MSN is always open if im online to anyone who needs a quick hand. :) ([email protected])

thanks for the info Ed, I still didn't receive a reply to my webNote though.

No worries mate.

Thanks for the update Yewen.

IMPORTANT: What about the Warranty if we fit them ourselves?

If it invalidates it I'll be sending it back...

The guy on the phone will explain all to you. But by fitting it as we have authorised it as long as you follow our instructions there will not be any warranty issues. We would have to be mad to even consider invalidating warranty when its our mistake.

Cool, I've just been e-mailed too about the wireless, going to have it sent and i'm going to attempt to install it myself, as a side note Yewen will we need a certain type of screwdriver for it? and if so can i be cheeky and ask for one to be sent along with the adaptor? :D

You will need a philips screwdriver, just a normal one will be fine. :)

We barely have enough for people in the company at the moment! Thats all you need extra to be able to fit the wireless adapter card.

Can I just add that everyone that I have spoken to is also very impressed by OcUK's delivery times.
For example, another company based in the UK is selling the Clevo M860TU for a higher price, and yet they gave me the estimated build time of a week! Compare that to OcUK's 1 day build time and you'll start wondering what the other company is doing for all that time!

I should be receiving mine today; I'll be putting Vista Business 64-bit on there, and I'll be sure to take a few shots of unpacking etc.
If anyone would like something in particular reviewed, just ask.

...and maybe the other company wouldnt send out their laptops with bits missing from them ;-)

But didn't OcUK say that only 10 laptops were shipped without Wireless cards?
That's a fairly small slip-up considering the amount of demand they have had for these laptops. And the whole fiasco with Customs holding the laptops, which pushed back the order ETAs meant OcUK had to really push to get as much out as possible.

Taken most of the people from our supplier returns (us sending the bits to manufacturers once a item is returned to us) department and put them on system builds.

Anyone who can use a screwdriver is currently building due to the laptops arriving and a surge of system sales.

The wireless card issue should never happen but was just due to the first batch over-selling, the next batch specification changing due to the wireless no longer onboard the motherboard we get and due to brain freeze / system not notifying us when building that the product had changed.

Caught it after the first 10, strange enough the drivers will install and verify just fine without the hardware installed. The first City Link van after they were built had already taken away the first wave so was a bit late by then.

The 10 without the WiFi should hopefully have gotten the adapter and guide by now as they were shipped courrier next day. :)

ok, I am waiting for the reviews please ... 17inch model would be great!

Slackers has just benched one of the more popular configurations before the laptop went through the quality control checks, performance is very neat for a mobile and was running rings unsurprisingly around my 9500GT SLi system. :p
