'Contact lost' with Malaysia Airlines plane

Ruppert Murdoch has tweeted saying it was a Jihadist attack. Either he knows something we don't or he is growing madder as he gets older.

Proof that wealth is inversely proportional to brian power. What a ****.

Lets just hope they find the boxes. Which they will eventually.

Will find the outcome of this quite interesting. On foreign TV all they seem to have is aeroplane disaster programs so watched a fair few when I was travelling for 3 weeks a couple of years ago. Amazing some of the outcomes and always interesting to see the changes that are implemented almost immediately following any discoveries.

Thoughts with all those involved, certainly not a pleasant way to go.

It would be interesting regarding the stolen passports that were blocked if this turns out not to be terrorism. Wonder how often there are passengers travelling on dodgy passports normally? And the next of kin of whoever it was travelling on the stolen passports won't have been contacted!

Something on more local to the region sources that indicate the passports stolen in Thailand might have been used to fly from Thailand and then onwards through Malaysia. Transit procedures might come under review if it is terrorism.
Again local sources, and not an official announcement.

Took 15 years before someone owned up to the Lockerbie one!

Claims of responsibility
CIA analysis of various claims of responsibility for the bombing

According to a CIA analysis dated 22 December 1988, several groups were quick to claim responsibility in telephone calls in the United States and Europe:

A male caller claimed that a group called the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution had destroyed the plane in retaliation for Iran Air Flight 655 being shot down by U.S. forces in the Persian Gulf the previous July.
A caller claiming to represent the Islamic Jihad Organization told ABC News in New York that the group had planted the bomb to commemorate Christmas.
Other callers claimed responsibility for the "Ulster Defence League".[42][43]
Another anonymous caller claimed the plane had been downed by Mossad.[42][43]

The list's author noted, "We consider the claims from the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution as the most credible one received so far," but the analysis concluded, "We cannot assign responsibility for this tragedy to any terrorist group at this time. We anticipate that, as often happens, many groups will seek to claim credit."[42][43]

likely to be in the sea somewhere, what's worrying is what interpol said about authorities not using their database to check passports.

Anyone here work in immigration?
What exactly do we do in the UK when they swipe or scan or biometrically read your passport? What is it checking? and against what databases?

Arguably no worse than the people celebrating in this thread because of the future documentary potential.

A couple of people saying they were interested to know what caused the plane to crash is the same as people celebrating the deaths of innocent people? Ok...

He prints lies for a living.

:D couldnt help but laugh at the bit about printing lies lol.

If it was a terrorist attack then surely one of the crazy islamist groups would have taken the blame for it.

Guess they still havent found any wreckage of the plane if it has gone down??, bizarre on how it just just 'disappeared' off the radar...surely they would have found some sort of wreckage by now

Spoke too soon:

Possible debris from the vanished Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 has been found in the sea off Vietnam by a search team, a senior official says.

It is the first time authorities have given any positive indication that traces of the Boeing 777, which disappeared in the early hours of Saturday carrying 239 people, may have been discovered.

"We received information from a Vietnamese plane saying that they found two broken objects, which seem like those of an aircraft, located about 50 miles to the south-west of Tho Chu Island," said the senior from official from the National Committee for Search and Rescue

It's too dark to make anything out now. They're going back in the morning.

Is it possible that most of the plane has sunk? Surely they have a rough idea where it went down? Terrible that it has taken so long to find. I hope we get answers.
