Dark Souls 2 - Thread

Having real trouble with the Ruin Sentinels. Tried at least 10 times now, mostly with the NPC summon and a player summon. Just keep dieing! I get his once and it takes 2/3rds of my health!

I'll help you out if you want. Don't know how to play with someone specifically though?

Stay on the ledge for the first one, then wait for the other one to jump up, then split up and one of you take on each.

Lightning is good, and blocking is a must. Their attacks are really easy to deal with, so long as you are just fighting one.

Just got help from a couple of phantoms for the Pursuer and got impaled by the guy trying to shoot him with the balista, wish I could have conveyed my emotions to them at that time, I was laughing so much :D

Hahaha, that's amazing.

I found him pretty tough compared with most of the bosses that have followed since, I guess it's because you're sort of expected to go away and level up before coming back and finishing him off.

If anyone doesn't know by know, they have added VAC support to DSII. Should enable a way to prevent hackers, but it might get a bit fussy when adding .dll files from adding ENB's and the like which are trying to restore the game's original lighting. I feel conflicted - DSI basically REQUIRED mods to work, and from should be very thankful for that fact that some lone modded fixed their game for them, and made it such a success on the PC market place. Now, we could basically be denied the use of mods. But then again, a lot less hackers will be present, which is always a good thing.

Wow this is so much easier on a controller. Never played a game in the series before so ended up breaking my sword in the first area...oops.

Enjoying it though, dying far from the last bonfire and having to go through lots of enemies again to reclaim souls can make for some tense moments.

I'm playing with no shield, I can almost dodge all of his telegraphs successfully but one mistake and he rapes me. Leaving him for tomorrow now and just helping people out via co-op, just had one guy miss the lever he needed to pull, twice, so myself and the other phantom blocked his path so he couldn't drop down and miss it. Then he kept messing up a jump and wasting his estus.

In the last game you never really had to worry about item durability (with a few exceptions) but now it's a very important thing to keep an eye on. Keep in mind that when you rest at a bonfire it repairs your items as well as your health, spell casts and estus. So you want to be carrying a range of weapons to swap out for when one is about to break, also different weapon types degrade faster than others (slashing ones for example).

The skeleton chariot is the most annoying boss for me, so far. I die numerous times at the necromancers phase and then the horse with its unblockable attack destroys me. Still haven't killed the b@astard.. I'm wearing heavy armor/shield, I think I need to lower the weight load for this fight and rely on speedy rolls rather than blocks.

There's an alternate way to kill this boss if you're having issues

After 20 or so poison arrows, the horse fails to make the jump and you just have to hit it once to send it falling into the pit

I wish I had taken the dragonrider bow (took the shield instead), it fits my STR build perfectly. Is there a way for me to respawn the boss, kill it and trade its soul for the bow?

Yea, you can use a bonfire ascetic on the first bonfire in the zone (not the one you get access too after you kill him) and it will make the whole area NG+ and also respawn the boss. The boss himself isn't too bad on NG+, but the zone gets a fair bit harder so I'd maybe think twice if you're still early in the game.

Alternatively, it's actually one of the few souls you get a second of later in the game anyway.

I'm trying to use twinblades, but I just can't get the feel for them.

Enjoying a dex/int build though. My first was fully strength.

to get the most out of the moveset, you def want to 2 hand it, wait for an opening then unleash... not the easiest weapon to use but excellent once you get to grips with it

Yeah the sentinels finally forced me to use co op, summoned two people and even then we almost didn't make it >< Definitely the hardest boss for me so far!

I had no issues with the sentinels as I killed them on the 3rd or 4th try. First one is easy on platform then jump down to take tackle the other two. I circled them with shield up, waited for them to throw their own shields (after I got one shot by a shield throw previously) and finally just let one of them do a slow combo, while the other often did a jump attack, thus creating a window to hit once or twice without putting myself in danger. Was a bit slow but nowhere near as difficult and tense as the Pursuer (I just hate attacks that ignore shield guard!).

I gave up with the sentinels after a while and went off exploring other areas. I'm going to revisit them tonight and have my way with them now I've levelled up a bit more :p. I'm not using a shield at all though which makes it a bit harder. Got to nail them dodges
