Dark Souls 2 - Thread

I think the key to dual wield is to play safe, do a lot of rolls,, find an opening, at which point you unleash a quick combo and hope to bleed/poison, followed by retreat and repeat.

Vendrick was surprisingly easy, but man there was something seriously pitiful about seeing him down there gone completely hollow. 2 still doesn't have the atmosphere that 1 has though, but this helped. Feels as though the NPCs in this game are a lot less glum except the crestfallen meek guy. Whereas in the first you had Artorias/Sif, Solaire, Siegfried etc who had tragic storylines and every NPC you meet in general is doomed and you know that from the second you meet them. In this they are just questing for power etc, you never run into any of them who have gone hollow. :/

Although I suppose Lordran and Draigleic are completely different areas, and Lordran was deeply corrupted by the Abyss so it's no surprise everybody who went there was destined for misery..

Although from that, and the way hollowing works and blacksmithing etc, they are definitely trying to incorporate some of the things from Demon's Souls into the Dark series, which is completely fine by me!

Just like Demon's Souls though, the ending is absolutely turd...

I did not know that... Does it simply turn you human or give you an effigy?

Simply turns you human. You have to succeed for it to work but if you die you don't lose anything (maybe lose some hp I haven't really checked but don't lose souls). The small white soap sign is handy for this as you only have to assist for about a quarter of the time, compared to the normal white soap stone, before your duty is fulfilled.

How do you get bleed damage? I'd like to toy with that and poison.

The Falchion has bleed damage to start with. You can buy it from the first blacksmith. Also, of course you can use a bleedstone to infuse any weapon as well(think you can buy a bleedstone somewhere iirc)

I don't like the Uchi for DW, so will probably stick with 2 falchions, one poisoned. Tbh, I chop and change all the time anyway, so can easily whip a shield out when I need one. The Leather one is light enough with 90% damage reduction.

Atm I have:

Right hand- Falchion+7 - Lightning Short Bow - Sorcerer's staff
Left hand- Poisoned Falchion - Leather Shiled - Sorcerer's staff

I wouldn't recommend poison/bleed for normal pve since most stuff will be dead by the time the poison kicks in.

I'm rolling with dual mundane avelyns in NG+ now. It's cheesy but I figure if you can't beat them, join them.

Just got this on the PC after searching for a decent price (£22 was as low as I could find from a reputable source).

Have to say I'm really impressed by the port, the game looks and feels superb especially at 60fps, not to mention 5 second load times just make me want to weep with joy.

Whats the co op like on this? Can you play the campaign co op with a friend?

Or is it hard to join up with a friend?

You can "technically" however helping someone with an area/boss doesn't change your games progress and you leave their game after defeating a boss and if you or they die, so you would have to go back and forth between you to keep your progress up.

Still down. Very annoying.

Just gone through the shaded woods. Not my favourite area tbh. Not hard or anything, just meh.

Fenris- it is in a different league to the console version tbh. Apart from how smooth it feels, and no motion blur(a biggie for me) it removes the tedium of warping back and forth all the time due to lower load times. Plus it looks really good... the Iron keep was stunning!

Edit - just this second been able to log in

I dread to think what it was like on the console!

Horrendous!

Question about a boss-

I was just summoned for the scorpion-woman boss and the other guy had summoned the other scorpion guy. What do you have to do to get him?...I had already exhausted his dialogue before I did it and I couldn't find a summon sign

btw, DW Falchions, with magic weapon on both can destroy some enemies!

You just need the ring of whispers and exhaust his dialogue as far as I'm aware, then his sign is outside the boss room.
