Dark Souls 2 - Thread

1.Which class/build to aim for as i have never played dark souls before and i rage pretty fast if i keep dying in games, which to go for?
2. controller a must or keyboard/mouse combo works too in DS2? (PC), if so, did you change the default keybinds? mind sharing?

1. Zethor's advice is a pretty solid base. I'd look for a strength build and mix some miracles into there during the mid/late game. I'd disagree with taking some of the stats so high though, especially on the first playthrough. Most have low softcaps in the 20-30 range and the game encourages a balanced build in general.

2. While it's probably okay on kb/mouse (better than the first), I'd still recommend a controller.

Didn't summon her for enough bosses. Thought I had, but must have missed one. Flexile Sentry I think.

I am using Agdayne's armour now. With Lion Mage cuffs, and Alva's Leggings and the Wanderer Hood. It's pretty good. Also upgrading Darkdrift to use as well, though I don;t have the stats to dual-wield it properly.

You can use a bonfire ascetic and beat one of her summon bosses a second time and it'll count for a substitute.

So who do we think is the toughest boss then?

I'll give us some choices-

1. Lost Sinner
2. The Persuer
3. Vestaldt
4. Old Dragonslayer
5. The Rotten
6. That Spider Thing
7. Giant Lord
8. Looking Glass Knight
9. Ruin Sentinels
10. Gargoyles

For me, I would say the Gargoyles, unless you summon one or two people for it is pretty tough, but I didn't have much trouble personally. The Lost sinner took me the most attempts.

Overall though, I think Vestaldt is the hardest imo.

Id say the Ruin sentinels because I remember dying so many times when I first started out on DS2 and then probably Gargoyles as Management of them becomes stressful :D

Defiantly Gargoyles, it's their numbers that get you. I ended up soloing them, just took a few turns.

Depends on your build though. Gargoyles aren't tough if you've got solid ranged DPS. You can kill them when they're only two at a time and keeping DPSing them down before you end up with a third.

I'd say Lost Sinner with unlit room.

The thing with the Lost Sinner is the relentlessness of the attacks!...doesn't give you a second. It also doesn't help that the run to it can be a bit of a chore as well. You can just run through quickly and not even engage anything, but if you want to keep Lucatiel alive, you are going to need to kill everything and take it slowly.

Silly but i actually think the Ogre at the start of the game is stupid hard to me, no space, massive reach, reminds me of Capra demon. Its embarrassing as its not even a boss :D Everyone else ive done within a couple tries, Lost sinner i did on my first go and i didnt have a clue what i was doing!

I beat lost sinner first try solo, gargoyles took a few attempts and the rotten was what prompted me to start summoning people, Dark Lurker on the other hand is still giving me grief and I'm fast running out of effigies, so frustrating as I've had it down to the point where you can barely see the red health on the bar twice now.

Every time someone summons you, and you are successful, you regain humanity.

Also, you if you have the Ring of Life Protection, it pretty much nullifies death if you want to exploit it(I do during bits where you can easily die through no fault of your own)

Well aware, however it costs an effigy to open the portal to get to dark lurker so it's of no help whatsoever :P

Quite a few of the bosses are actually easier than they were on the console version upon release :(. The Lost Sinner for example has less health and hits for less I believe.

If you're struggling with Darklurker don't be afraid to respec to a pyromancer build. Darklurker turns into a right little bitch against fire :p.

First game's better in my opinion but you can't wrong with either to be honest. Demon's is still my favourite though, the atmosphere is incredible. Hope the Demon's Souls 2 rumours are true and it captures the same atmosphere as the first.

i put this on for an hour just now, outdated graphics, no plot. npc characters lips dont even move. If you die you end up miles away again? no idea whats going on i am baffled why this game gets so much praise. I thought the first one was dull and confusing too.
