i put this on for an hour just now, outdated graphics, no plot. npc characters lips dont even move. If you die you end up miles away again? no idea whats going on i am baffled why this game gets so much praise. I thought the first one was dull and confusing too.
So who do we think is the toughest boss then?
I'll give us some choices-
1. Lost Sinner
2. The Persuer
3. Vestaldt
4. Old Dragonslayer
5. The Rotten
6. That Spider Thing
7. Giant Lord
8. Looking Glass Knight
9. Ruin Sentinels
10. Gargoyles
For me, I would say the Gargoyles, unless you summon one or two people for it is pretty tough, but I didn't have much trouble personally. The Lost sinner took me the most attempts.
Overall though, I think Vestaldt is the hardest imo.
I don't agree with the pursuer I managed to do him, second try.
Black Knight Halbred is awesome. It is taking me a while to get used to the moves, but the damage is insane. Bit heavy though.
It has very good damage but only when the blade connects with the target, which makes its damage drop by 50% in close range. I don't like that. I want to try the the Black Knight Greatsword but it has caster requirements, what's up with that?
That life protection ring does kind of break the game, guarantee protection of your souls for only 3k... I far less cautious with that ring on.
It's an acquired taste really. I love the games, but I certainly share your sentiments regarding some of the outdated mechanics/animations, and I don't like how the lore/story is presented at all.
Don't use it then? Lol.
Nonsense, the presentation is the best thing about the series, it would ruin the depth and level of speculation if you were hand fed the story in cutscene after cutscene, it would be terrible. The lore is magical as it currently is.
Why wouldn't I use something that gives me an advantage?
Getting fed up of Dark Souls fans meeting any criticism with pre-prepared terms like 'spoon-fed' 'hand-fed' etc. Dark Souls has very interesting lore, which is told through poor mechanisms such as Item descriptions and Wikipedia. I don't want loads of cutscenes, or even the story made clearer necessarily, but their method of portraying the lore is poor, and is a step backwards in terms of story telling in games, which has improved massively over the years.

I really like the way the lore is handled in dark souls and dark souls 2. Both games are set in once mighty kingdoms that have crumbled and decade to the point that people hardly remember what happened and why. Finding tid-bits of info during your travels and piecing it all together makes the world actually feel the way they are trying to portray it. Adds to the atmosphere and immersion of the game massively.
I like the choice they give you, if you want to not give a hoot and just chop/smash your way to the end you can. But if you want to learn about the world and its inhabitants then you can read everything and go through all the dialogue.
I found it a waste of time going back and forth and repairing that ring (I die a lot, ha). I just use the one that limits hollow life loss.
