Dark Souls 2 - Thread

Cool, just trying to figure out what's a good kinda build and a direction that's not going to be a waste of time.

you get items called soul vessels which lets you reallocate all your stat points (down to the default of the class you picked) so not too worry if you put points in the wrong bit.

Best Digital Dark Souls 2 price? normal Steam key, dont want to mess about with VPN's etc

will be selling my ps3 copy to replay on pc

*have asked in deals thread but may get more in here, thanks

*also, is this game running well on AMD cards? how about crossfire?

thanks :)

Suddenly GFWL doesn't seem so bad.
Every other day the servers seem to be offline, and getting disconnected from multi-player halfway through a session is really infuriating.

Also, has anyone else noticed some terrible lag during invasions? In the bell tower especially I was being hit by phantoms who appeared to be nowhere near me on screen.
It's a shame, because when it works properly it's brilliant.

The lag when fighting is a joke, on my screen they are in front then next second I am being back stabbed. Not all the time but more then it did on DS1.

ok cool :) i thought i read some issues around launch so i assume its all better now

ive got crossfire 6950s so should be fine then

thanks mates

Yeah it would crash on launch and randomly during play to desktop etc. and people on overclocks still experience it, but actual performance is good, a 6950 would have no issues so crossfire definitely won't. Although you might miss out on Durante's GeDoSaTo mod when it releases, unless you're okay with 30~ frames per sec.

Steamworks online play has always been very poor its not just you! On DS2 I started to play offline in the end to save hassle with the servers & players who would disrupt my game.

Steam will not ban anyone unless they use cheats/hacks/mods VAC picks up.

DS2 should be patched to remove VAC it stops you modding the gfx online or using other mods to enhance SP

so cant ds2 be modded? i thought it could

Not as yet and no word from FROM if it will be allowed if someone does ferret out a way to do it.

So far there are only ENB's and using them may or may not cause VAC bans, no one is 100% sure yet.

Basically until there is some concrete evidence as to what is safe and what is not (i.e first ban waves), avoid changing your game in any way.

I gave this game a go last night and it didn't go well. I never played Dark Souls 1 and I am playing with keyboard and mouse so I was expecting a bit of a learning curve. But it didn't go well at all.

Throughout the tutorial section it only references the Xbox controller and so you have to keep checking the key bindings to find out what the hell you are supposed to be pressing. I kept using my life stone instead of picking up items, completely unarmed myself during combat and promptly fell off the world.

Even with the graphics maxed out at 1440p the game looks very dated. The inventory and character screens are truly dreadful, it is like the last 30 years of game interface design never happened.

Perhaps it is just not for me. I was hoping for something that offered an updated mix of Dark Messiah and Severance. I'm really not feeling compelled to return to it and continue my battle with the controls and GUI.

I found the game smooth and gorgeous on ps3 at 30fps so i would be happy with anything over that :D thanks

Hi just started playing my first time playing a ds game. Should i concentrate on using my souls for level ups or buying weapons. What stats you revomend me upgrading

Upgrading your weapon > soul level > upgrade armour in that order. As for what to upgrade you cant't go wrong with endurance, vigor, adaptability (especially if you like to dodge by rolling) and the attack stats that your weapon scales with. Those first three have a soft cap at 20 so it's not recommended to go above that until your happy with your other stats.

Good advice!

Personally I wouldn't bother upgrading armor at all though.

Also, which ADP is nice, I'd say VIT is most important, especially early on. More iframes in your roll from ADP is good, but if you're fat rolling because of low VIT then it's irrelevant. Soft cap for VIT is 29.
