Dark Souls 2 - Thread

Ah havent found a claymore yet so will look out for that. I was thinking about going to do another area , Will try a few times tonight and if I still cant nail it I will go somewhere else.
Im not a fan of some of these optional areas, In DS1 I felt every area was important but in DS2 half the time I dont know whether I need to be in a place to advance the story.

I felt like that too tbh! Smelter is optional but doing him can become helpful for the rest of iron keep

Totally bored with this now ive done NG++, feel like the game is geared to strength builds this time around. I swear every boss in the game is circle strafe to the right.

Should have called it PVP Souls 2 :D

Well you did get dozens of hours of quality entertainment, how many games provide that in single player? :)

This game is dam long, poured about 60hrs into it so far and just killed the Kings Guard, then tried to take on King Vendric right after and got one squashed like a bug. Didn't realise you're not suppose to fight him right after! Think i've missed a few areas like Freida so going back to her, also just started to open the Kings sealed doors and apparently have to find 5 giant souls to be able to take vendric down.

Game is so complex, little intricacies.

Anyone know the development time for dark souls 2, was just wondering last night as must have taken years considering the amount of content? Bet the budget wasn't huge either, makes you wonder what these AAA devs are doing with all that cash / man power when delivering 20 hour campaigns.

On a side note, how long have I got left to finish this thing, feel fatigued as hell right now!!

Think I took 100hrs for 1st play through and 2 other chars to mid-way. Just depends on how fast you are really.

Was watching some speed runs being done live on twitch, it's scary how fast you can complete this game with the right strats and builds :o

How can you say that when Magic is totally OP in this game?
Havent completed it yet (taking my time) but I do agree from what Iv played that there are very few standout moments, the pathing is a mess since theres no clear goal like ring two bells and some of the routes are just optional (aka pointless) without telling you that.#
Still I love it because it is DS, but 1 is so much better.

The first time you aggro Vendrick, he doesn't have the resistances that the souls demultiply. Best time to fight him unless you're ready to fight a big chubby cute bag of flames.

I to like DS2 but I also prefer DS1. Maybe it was because it was my first souls game, I hear people who played Demon Souls prefer that out of the the 3. I am getting a PS3 this month just to play it.

Strange to admit, I have all three games. Only completed Demons souls. Lost interest in DS1 and 2 very quickly.

I think DS2 is the best game, but I prefer the first just because I played it first. Didn't really care for Demon's as much as the others apart from the bosses which were epic.

new is fun and exciting...etc.. unfortunately when I got really good it lost some of it's interest. Now I give myself challenges by only using a certain crap setup or not upgrading..etc - love all 3 games but ds2 is my fave.

Finally managed to beat the game last night, 70 hours in total. Well worth the £20 :) Think i'm done with it to be honest, fancy something a little but lighter for a while to recuperate lol. Hope in future instalments they could implement a proper story, more cutscenes / lore, a map etc just to give some substance / weight to all the fighting.

On a side note, if you played DS2 first will playing DS1 be a let down? Normally sequels are more refined so was wondering if I would enjoy DS1? Anyhow will be in a while though, not got the effort to go back into a souls game right now.

DS2 isn't really an improvement on DS1 (graphically or otherwise) in my opinion so it won't be a let down at all. Some of the mechanics are slightly different, and overall I'd say the bosses are mostly tougher than in DS2. The same goes for Demon's Souls if you happen to own a PS3, though I'd say that one is slightly less refined than the Dark Souls games :)

Lol reminds me of when I first bought demon souls on PS3. I literally played 10 minutes and then sold the game as I attacked the first NPC I met who whooped my butt. You would think after reloading I could rectify my mistakes and not attack the guy but strangely (back then it was strange) he remembered and whooped me every time I reloaded as was within a meters of the bonfire!

Are the bosses "new" / different in DS1 as in not repeated in DS2 as that would just be a bit disappointing?

They're all completely different to those in DS2, aside from one "tribute" boss in DS2 (that was a nice surprise).
