***Dayz: Stand Alone Thread***

Haven't played in a while, pc problems.
Will have to try again before it changes.

"Can't move with inventory open" What the actual....!?

Still the worst £20 I have ever spent
Obviously not your kind of game.

I'm pretty fussy when it comes to games and I've easily been able to see past the issues.

Ultimately 0.63 sees the modding scene take off and DayZ can get to the glories of the mod days, based on a far superior and hopefully more stable engine.

Proof will be in the pudding, as they say.

This pudding must surely be going off soon, it's been out for nearly 4 years now

Can't believe people are still defending this, fair enough if people enjoy it but 95% of the original playerbase can't be wrong.

It's delay was due to previous engine limitations - new engine builds take years.

Not defending but simply stating that it is a pretty enjoyable game, certainly 0.60 onwards. Player base is through the floor, sure but I'm very confident that once modding takes off it will see similar numbers from the 'glory dayz' - pardoning the pun.

Didn't realise DG had a brother on these forums xD :D

^ sorry but just LOL
What part is funny? Engine builds taking years? (they do) Being an enjoyable game? (subjective)

I've put over 500 hours into this game over the past several months and I've had great fun out of it, gotten involved in content creating with some random guy I met through the game and in general I've met some great people though the community. This, to me is unique among any computer game I've played (30+ years of gaming).

Until the new player controller is in, I reserve judgement on the game - it should resolve many of the issues we see. Ultimately it's only a game, if you guys don't like it then fair enough but given the sheer scale and complexity of it, outside of software such as VBS3, not much comes close to this.

that's all well and good for you but engine limitations gtfo.. i could see that with playing arma well before dayz.
most folk who have bought this feel cheated, anyhoo life goes on..
You know that they are trying to do more than just make a standalone game? They are making a whole new engine, whilst running the old legacy system.

Far more complicated than simply creating a new game - trying to get two systems to talk to eachother as one is developed and both patched.

We're talking a £30 game at the end of the day. I'm happy I've got my moneys worth.

Some people will blindly defend a pile of gash that has been an insult to us who spent thousands of hours playing the still far better game that was the mod. There is absolutely no reason that standalone should be so dier. Every other mod on the same engine is far more advance. Yet they keep talking about making a new engine that isn't actually a new engine.

Aye. I'm all for people enjoying it for what it is but saying 'wait until its modded', well why should we rely on a community to make it the game it should have been after 4 years of early access development, thats just not on.

'Its a new engine'. Fair enough, so why not start with that in the first place. They spent 2 years developing an unoptimised engine that TBH people were at the time fairly happy with.

'Its complicated'. Yes it is, thats why they are a professional studio working with £40 million of funding. Wonder how much of that is left!

Again, its fair enough people enjoying it but it is impossible to defend hat and jogging simulator 2013/14/15/16/17.

I am thirsty
I am hungry
I am sick of waiting for the finished game

:D Completely agree. People can enjoy what they want. I actually am one of the few who enjoyed alien colonial marines with a few friends. Yet that was terribly rated. However i never tried to defend all of it's massive issues and the devs certainly never harped on about how it's the engines fault and we are good devs honest.

if your implying that boxman is or anyone else is just blindly following the game i couldn't disagree with you more

and quite frankly, all the experts here who seem to have full insider knowledge of how to build and how long it takes to build game engines etc annoys me especially when people who actually enjoy the game even in it's current state just get flamed for having there own opinion on the game..

I only play it from time to time, and quite enjoy the atmosphere the game generates yes it has umpteen amounts of faults but still isn't fair on anyone that speaks out and wants to show that they do enjoy the game, only to be met with insults..

people bought into a standalone game not a new project/engine starting from scratch taking 4 plus years and still nowhere near completion so yeah folk are a bit miffed about it.. the mod is still king! :p

I'm not at all, I've said multiple times that enjoying the game is not what I have an issue with.

I do have an issue with the way it has been developed, the time it has taken and the way people defend the devs not the game, not once have I put someone down for enjoying the game.
