The atmosphere is like nothing else in any game I've played - minutes to several days worth of looting up, to run into a squad at NWAF or a random player in the middle of nowhere, I just haven't found that same adrenaline rush as in DayZ.if your implying that boxman is or anyone else is just blindly following the game i couldn't disagree with you more
and quite frankly, all the experts here who seem to have full insider knowledge of how to build and how long it takes to build game engines etc annoys me especially when people who actually enjoy the game even in it's current state just get flamed for having there own opinion on the game..
I only play it from time to time, and quite enjoy the atmosphere the game generates yes it has umpteen amounts of faults but still isn't fair on anyone that speaks out and wants to show that they do enjoy the game, only to be met with insults..
Unreal Engine 4 took five years to develop. Arma II's Real Virtuality 3 engine, which was 10 years in development when Arma 2 came out, was around 15 years old by the time Standalone began development... so those trying to compare the Mod to Standalone are on a hiding to nothing, IMO. The devs realised that RV3 engine just couldn't do what had been planned so this is why they spent the last (approximately) 3 years designing the Enfusion engine, whilst running the previous engine in parallel, all the while keeping the game as patched as it could be.
Nobody can judge what 0.62 is now as being the final product as there are still elements of the old legacy engine - once that is out of the way in 0.63 then we can see what all the time has been spent on.
Of course it's not ideal having such a wait but it would have been pointless in doing all that work only for the game to be less than was intended.
I have said on this thread already that the comms by devs has been terrible at times - it is getting better now and given they are only now advertising by having a presence at Gamescon, they must be pretty confident in what Beta will bring.I'm not at all, I've said multiple times that enjoying the game is not what I have an issue with.
I do have an issue with the way it has been developed, the time it has taken and the way people defend the devs not the game, not once have I put someone down for enjoying the game.
If beta is rubbish then doubters will be proved right, if not then we can expect an amazing game.
Modding will breathe new life into the game but I'm certainly not putting my hope in mods fixing a broken game, if things don't improve. If vanilla, once beta hits, cannot get the most performance out of the engine then I fail to see how a mod could, in which case I will be giving my fair share of criticism.
