Reading's fairly easy to get to by train from most places and it is the location of the best pie shop in the world.

I've been to Reading once - about 18 years ago with the (now ex) wife (cow). Was only there for a day and didn't see much as she was dragging me around the shops (I did manage to escape for 1 pint but she found me and dragged me back for more shopping ).

As long as I don't bump into any of her family, I should be fine. Her brother used to live there (dunno if he still does) and her Dad lives in Wokingham, although I quite liked him so I'd probably be alright if I bumped into him.
