It's so bright by the way! I've had to turn it down to 25%. Great now
What did you turn down to 25%? And where?

Did you change a setting(s) on the monitor, or in software? (drivers)

Would appreciate some input from a fellow 2405FPW owner who has actually owned a TFT before because I dunno what settings are "right". :(

i'm now down to 15% brightness and it's still STUNNINGLY bright

As for settings, as long as you use DVI there's very little to tweak. I've done nothing and i've got absolutely no intention of doing.

In work we had it hooked up to a laptop over analog, and while i was enjoying the size & resolution I wasn't as wowed as I am this minute. (regarding the colours & clarity)

Essentially it felt like a 181T "but bigger", which is no wrong thing...but here at home it definately feels next-generation.

The screen looks superb Paul!
I noticed it's hooked up to a 201 Coolermaster case and I am wondering what those two drive covers with the cut-outs are for m8?
I use coolermasters myself and I`m just being curious :)

Cheers

They're coolermaster cooldrive3 harddrive bays. I use them to help silence my RAID0 74gb raptors. Goes nicely with the reserator ;)

Half-Life 2 ran well after I turned the quality settings down, still looked awesome too. Very immersive at that size, and ghosting wasn't an issue. A definate improvement over the 25ms sammy panel, didn't really notice a thing. Quite incredible really......

Still, I could do with more horsepower than a radeon9800p but I'm not gaming too much lately.

OOOH quick Q!

I just noticed on the [H] forums you mention that Joey is running as a 576p source? Is that off a PAL DVD player then? This is the first I've heard of the screen working will PAL progressive scan/high density sources! :)

Gess did some people think that was Hi def, doesnt look like HD material at all lads, which youve confirmed. If anything do you agree with comments from some users that with some video for fullscreen its perhaps best to lower the resolution hence less scaling, whats your thoughts?

Also please confirm what size the 4:3 mode for 1600x1200 is.
Im guessing approx 18"

Heres a usefull HDTV link

Ok thanks next chance you get give it a measuring.
I think the old Medion 30" gave an approx 21" 4:3 so Id be surprised if you get over 19"

Just curious to know as many games although hackable arnt available in Widescreen.

But where are you changing brightness?

Monitor.
I'm not adjusting anything in my radeon properties...didn't really know you could. It's not the kind of thing I'd ever do....After all, the default's for the radeon is the only thing you KNOW is how it should be.

Unbelievable. One of my 2405FPWs that I had ordered has been damaged in transit resulting in a split box. Dell are refusing to arrange a "part" delivery with the undamaged box to follow at a later date, so my delivery date of today has now been pushed back to an unspecified date due to unknown stock levels.

To say that I'm angry doesn't cover it. Wasted day waiting for the delivery and it doesn't inspire confidence in the couriers and/or packaging that Dell are using.

Well Dell have royal screwed me over. I phoned them up and said I would only order one if they would refund me for my 2005 with a faulty backlight I bought in December. They said yes sure, took payment for the 24" then transfered me to some one who flatly refused to refund it. Now I have spent over 2 hours on the phone and I haven't spoken to any one who can either take back my 2005 for a refund or cancel my 24" order as they all lie and say they will phone me back but do not.
