*** Destiny Raid & PvP discussion thread ***

Got templar oracles checkpoint if anyone wants to crack on through for VoG hard mode tonight. Complete this one section then can get the next two chests no probs.... Psn btw

Should we use this checkpoint for the HM raid tonight (per below)?

Tuesday 8:30pm GMT VoG Hard PS4
1) middgen 31 warlock
2) OweO 31 warlock
3) apostolis 30 warlock?
4) piphal 31 Titan
5) Zoomee 31 hunter
6) Greeboth 31 warlock?

Might be good as you only miss out on a couple of ascendant materials from the first chest and only really miss the lovely cuddly Praetorians at the start..

sorry bud - I completed it last night so will have lost this checkpoint (would have lost it with the weekly reset anyhoo). Not to worry, we can easily get to that point again. Look forward to blasting through this tonight.

Checkpoint restarts in less than an hour, so I suspect you'll need to start from scratch unless zoomee gets another one before your raid tonight.

Yeah sorry I forgot about the reset (facepalm ahoy!)

Should be a good run. I know Piphal is REALLY looking forward to the jumping section.... :p

He might need to try the run through the path on the left and fist of havoc over.

I will be running Obsidian mind with Bad Juju* as a super creating combo... :D

*Unless Bad Juju sucks and then I will switch to something else.

You got it levelled to string of curses I assume, it's the McDaddy of Pulse Rifle for addies, don't even need additional ammo as I hardly use the reserve available!

I just wish I have OM for the super combo-ing. Without it, I do get a super once every minute in medium to heavy fighting, which isn't too bad to be honest. Make sure you turn Soul Rip and energy drain addies every so often.

Total carnage and orb generator for your teammates.

Looks like missus isn't up for movie tonight (woo!) so I'll be on tonight for CE!

XB1 CE Raid. Tuesday 20:00pm start. Ideally looking to do this legitimately and avoid cheese.

1. Auty71, Lvl 31 Titan/Hunter/Warlock (as required)
2. Ehhh Mazin - Lvl 31 Titan/Hunter/Warlock
3. Evilmatt 31 hunter
4. WriteThatD0wn 31
5. Evilphog 32 Hunter / 31 Warlock
6. Mr Jones 31 Warlock / Titan

Put me down for reserve - Hunter 30

Yup String of Curses + OM = Super every 15-25 seconds assuming I can link multiple kills quickly.

Sadly it is only the 300 attack version running at 283 (unlocks available for the next upgrades but I ran out of spirit bloom (and marks)... again!). I will get it fully up before the raid tonight so it is as strong as possible.

My only concern is how strong it will be against level 30 adds. If it can kill level 30 goblins easily then I won't have to reload and will build supers quickly. I will be running Sunsinger for the self revive but should be able to trigger supers more often & still have the ability to revive.

I will have to switch later in the fight to a AE / IB / One way Ticket combo to have my strongest gun ready for Atheon.

Only takes a few minutes to get to Oracles, might as well do a fresh run.

Think I will be rocking my newly levelled Hard Light this evening..the overpenetration and ricochet is pretty mental. Red Death is next once I've maxed HL and Gjally upgrade.

Definitely helps using raid weapons with oracle damage perk on HM, especially on Atheon.

Oh yeah, you're running HM. Best be safe than sorry with the Sunsinger than.

I've got the 300+ Bad Juju and tried it in HM, it's fine for that but I'd not run with a <300 in HM, just not enough damage even as a level 31. You'll run out of clips regularly and lose one of the best perk of unlimited ammo / no reload for continuous damage.

Now with a Gjyallahorn, I can't carry the Juju :(. The horn is so useful during confluxes and taking out Pretorians sacrificing.

Yeah I will most likely run one of my 331 attack primaries (scout or auto) but I will give Bad Juju a quick go if I can get it fully upgraded in time (should do but I am doubting myself on whether the last circle was fully green or not... :o).

331 Icebreaker will be my secondary (or a 331 LDR if I'm running an exotic in other slots).

I don't have Gjallarhorn so I don't have that issue but I may run SGA as my exotic for Oracle / detain take downs. The SGA perk (plus its recent buff) should make it a very good choice at those stages.

Only downside to that approach is not being able to run Icebreaker (or at least have enough ammo regened by the time I return through the portal). My LDR is pretty strong but I do have a choice of snipers to choose from.

I will just bring everything with me that I think will be useful. :D I wonder if I could pinch one of Piphal's Gjalla's (he got two back to back in Nightfalls....)?!

EDIT: Is truth any good for the raid? It is the only tracking RL I have. I don't want to waste a exotic slot with it if isn't that great. I have used it quite extensively outside of the raid but only against lower level enemies (well up to level 26 where it performed.... ok (I was too busy not dying to really notice the impact it was making)).

In all honesty, Gjallarhorn is great for quick burst DPS on Crota....but for VoG hard mode snipers are the better option. The two situations where the DPS is important (templar/atheon), you have harpies running around all over the place which are prone to appearing in front of you as you pull the trigger....had way more wipes due to that, than easy takedowns from the DPS.

If everyone's rocking IB/BH/P&T and a titan pops WoL you can dish crazy DPS with no risk.

Cool I will leave Turth in the vault in that case.

AE / IB / 300+ attack heavy it is then :)

For the templar it depends on how you do it, if you do it with everyone (or most players) up the top then rockets are the way forward. If you are down the bottom though then I agree rockets are too much of a risk.

I still can't decide for IB or BH for Atheon though, If you get a good run with the relic then IB runs out of rounds while still shooting Atheon. Though if outside the portals then IB allows you take some pot shots at Atheon for a few extra thousand damage. Whereas BH fires slower but if you can chain crits then I think you can fire more bullets then IB. Though as Atheon moves and the amount of splash lighting effects it can be difficult to ensure chained crits. Once you get to reloading BH then slows down damage and then I think IB comes back to the fore.

Either way, WoL with 331 BH doesn 19,XXX damage to Atheon per shot. Did Atheon 3 times on hard last week and with WoL we got him down in 2 goes each time.

I've been using a maxed BH and left my IB in the vault for a while now (I have 3 BHs, one per character). BH hits harder than IB and with most boss fights it's fairly east to keep the critical going so you can literally just shoot BH non stop until a boss is down (Although with the Templar and Atheon it's harder as their crits are hard to reliably hit).

For standard strikes Black Hammer is a monster.

I'm sure my 331 BH was hitting for over 20k last time I did HM. Does WoL stack? We had two bubbles up on the run I was on.

Hey just for the invites tonight the id is apostoliskt
This is a warlock indeed. If i get some shards today i might get to lvl 31.

Will there be a crota run at some point?

I wasn't aware that BH hit harder than IB. BH looks like the sniper of choice then as while missing a crit slows things down it probably isn't enough to make up the extra damage per shot.

On an side note, I have seen the figures for the oracle disrupter on reddit before but has anyone come across stats for a 300 with oracle disrupter perk against a 331 without? Started wondering after doing CE and found a lvl 32 with 300atk VoC was doing less crit damage against thralls than I was at lvl 31 with a 308atk Another NITC. I know atk isn't everything but got me wondering but I can't find anyone who has done testing on it.

Wyrdo was saying he got some hits for 20k yet all mine were 19k, I don't know why though. Maybe WoL do stack and he got the bonus of 2 whereas maybe I only went through 1 bubble.

.

I don't know any specific figures but I ran a VoG hard last week using a 331 scout rifle (Badger I think it's called but with a Firefly perk) and during the Atheon fight I had to switch back to my VoC as the Badger was taking way too long to take the oracles down, VoC seemed to take them out in a lot fewer shots even at the lower 300 attack.

Yeah I did ask the question if WoL stacked because the time two of us put bubbles down I was hitting for over 20k. No idea if that was why but it was nice regardless! :)

Got to disagree, 'Horn is better for Atheon than a sniper as ultimately the reason you gave not to use it is still a problem when you jump out of the bubble - having a person dealing with the Supplicants on HM seems sensible.

Best runs for me especially when we werent level 30 was with multiple 'Horn users

ps3ud0
