DirectX 12

I watch both shows for the same reasons. Characters, plot, scenery...

The blood, gore and nudity I put up with...

GOT put me onto the books and in turn kept me watching the show. Blood ,gore and nudity are typical HBO lowest common denominator tactics but if it means it will get more seasons Ill put up with it

Edit, sorry to keep it on topic- HBO are keeping important depth of field tech from ABC :p

Huddys caught being "mistaken" , Basically as i said in the other thread this is a PR thing not really anything in it lets just throw mud and hope we dont get called on it, Meanwhile at least our names in the Press so its all good

Some new information about Windows 9 has surfaced over at Chiploco.com. This gives a much anticipated glimpse into what the developer version and probably the final version of Windows 9 is going to look like. It would appear that Microsoft is doing its level best to appease the adamant Windows 7 fans by ditching most of its Metro UI start screen system. Although snippets and glimpses of the new windows have leaked out before, this leak gives a look at the complete aesthetic of the upcoming Windows 9.

Windows 9 Has Full Support of DirectX 12 – Ready to Welcome Home Win 7 Users
Now the build is called 6.4.9788 which means that seeing the current trend we are looking at a release date of around Q4 2014. As we already know, Microsoft has decided to completely ditch the start screen in Desktops, and has reverted to the Windows 7 boot to desktop style. We have the beloved start button back, something, once again, which we already knew. Now we recently learned that Microsoft has incorporated some of the Metro UI into its start menus, and these screenshots show in detail just that.
The Metro Apps part will be the left side of the start menu, and for the Windows 7 die hards, it can be turned off thankfully. A more streamlined version of the familiar start menu will be on the right side and it looks like most of the windows 7 aesthetics have been combined with windows 8′s icons to a promising looking effect. I myself still use Windows 7, since I love the Aero look too much to move to the obsolete looking (in my opinion) static look favored by Windows 8/8.1. However, if most of the transparency functionality is included by default then I could get used to this, and since we can turn the Metro APPs off complete, it seems like a good effort from Microsoft’s Part. One of the primary reason Microsoft has adamantly refused to leave behind the Metro UI is because of its iconic role in mobile devices, which has admittedly costed them quite a few dollars. However, this new peace offering along with DX12 support might just be enough to win the support of the Windows 7 Community. Microsoft is ending mainstream support in 2015 anyways so now would be a good time to make the shift. Although to be honest, I would have killed for the following aesthetic.

Sounds promising.

so far all i see is bad news for DX12.
microsoft working on stoping windows 7 support(meaning feature updates) in january 2015
windows 8 is being droped since it couldnt even break 10% user base.
now they wanna put in place a new DRM for windows 9.
in the light of all this, i dont see DX12 being widely used as default API untill 2018 or 2020, what's the point of having games using DX 11.0 up to 2020, not even 11.2 because no one is using windows 8, so no dev is using it.
i am less and less excited by DX12, how much time would it take to have 50% user base on windows 9 ?
why dont they break the link of windows and directx, god i hate microsoft.
the bright side is the new DRM might help ppl move to SteamOS, now that linux got HSA, and hopefuly Mantle, things are gonna be interesting.

DX12 will be the main selling point for Windows 9. There is no saying it won't be available for Windows 8.1, but to write it off already seems a little negative. I loved Windows 7 and it was a massive step forward and snappier than Vista and I felt Windows 8 UI wasn't for me. After recently upgrading, I am so pleased I did and bring on DX12 I say. I am willing to bet money that game devs already have the beta for Windows 9/DX12 or very close to it and will be working with it to get games ready for DX12. Whether that is on Xbone and PC or both remains to be seen.

Win 9 looks nice. Now just to hope its not a subscription service and ms kick out some early adopter upgrade pricing like they did with win 8 :)

Agreed , I'm a bit lazy and cant be bothered to move to win8 this late in the game would rather move straight to 9
