Tbh yeah, I'm excited about this new kit but £280 is a lot to pay for a single-GPU card. Not forgetting someone forgot to write any games that actually need the power....my 260 runs everything barring Crysis perfectly.
Some of you guys are forgetting that some of the 4870X2's that were released were reaching £500 at one point (can anyone say GLH? 
).
I was lucky enough to have bought my XFX edition at the intro price of £333. But yeah I wish I had waited a bit longer to have bought it for about £60 cheaper but I don't mind. It was the cheapest when it was first released and the best GPU card I have purchased.
So when that 5870X2 gets released I will wait longer this time round for the price to drop. I am not expecting to buy it until Jan/Feb 2010. So we will see how it goes then.

My plan is to buy a 5870 on launch, then an x2 when games really start to stress the single-gpu card at 1920res. Will probably just get an x2 anyhow

Will OC be taking pre-orders before the 23rd, or will the cards only become available to order on Wednesday?
The dutch site that briefly had a pre-order up had them for 319 Euros :|
With today's exchange rates thats £288.88 without ROB tax
that's not bad, still cheaper then a gtx 295

Im ****ed off with the Micro stuttering in WoW and Aion with my 4870x2 so I will be getting a 5870 asap to hopefully see the end of this annoying problem.

what difference would there be with the 2gb one? i dont see much point because if you go high res the fps is going to drop anyway
People who have huge screens with a high res are most likely the only ones to notice a difference.
yeppers, duno how theyl sell them, not only do they have to buy 4 of those beasts but also but a 24 monitor setup, itl cost thousands and thousands
