Bloody hell, these cards really seem to be "all that and more" This is the most anticipated card launch I've been excited about.

ATI have done so well, and really kicked nVidia deep and hard in the b***s. It's like the phoenix rising from the ashes.

Depends on what you do, res and how much you are willing to spend.

Wait for benchies. 5850 will be a good card.

To be honest i see the 5850 sitting between the gtx285 and 295, i'm sure there might be one or two instances where it might beat a 295 but i think it might be a bit much to ask for the lesser specced of these new cards to beat the best previous generation dual gpu card consistently across all games.

Exactly what im thinking because im not paying £300 ish for a 5870

i mentioned the yields with Nvidia and asked about the x2 5870.

from what we know Nv are pretty uptight about this !!

The upcoming G300 should be pretty quick - but probably not out until 2010 so we have a bit of breathing space for the first time in a few years !!

Currently Nv hold about 70% market share in discreet graphics in the UK - so we have a load of room to grow !!

5870x2 is codenamed "Hemlock" and we are told should be out by end October - albeit in small numbers....

Yield on 5870 is very good apparently - and we should have more and more stock arriving over the next 2 weeks - if you couple that with 5850 launching (and shipping next week), and "Juniper" - 5750/5770 coming by the end of October as well we will have DX11 40nm parts from well under $100 all the way through the range....

My big hope is that we can get enough made !!!

I don't get why some people are selling their cards now...seriously it would be better to wait a few months...that's what I will be doing...and I don't think I'll even want to sell my 4870X2 when I get the 5870X2...

Sell our own cards now so we get more for them? if we waited a couple of months we'd get scrap, so really we'd be spending about the same either way.

I had some money put away for a Triplehead2go and if i sell my gtx275, ill more aless get this card for free.
