Pretty much confirming what a few of us have been saying for a while now! 4k DLSS perf better than DLSS quality and native 1440p

For those still on 1440p, use DLDSR and dlss perf, it really does give you a better IQ over 1440p dlss quality/native.

EDIT:

I think this video confirms what I have also been saying about 4k over 1440p, motion clarity is noticeably better there. From 1.10 onwards, dlss 4k looks a lot cleaner/clearer than the others even though it is slightly less fps than 1440p dlss quality.

Exactly. And that is a bloody old game too :p

It's using TAA based methods, the new era of AA, that's why :p TAA really does require 4k now, it solved a lot of problems TAA but it also took a step back on a few areas too, thankfully most games aren't like RDR 2 AA options though, probably the worst game there is to showcase all AA methods :o

Yeh. For the dlss comparison, 4k performance = 1920x1080, 1440p quality = 1707x960. Considering the higher render resolution at a much nicer ratio, it shouldn't surprise. By setting a higher res via dldsr on a 1440p screen eg 4k, then running dlss performance, you're going to get a slightly better pq than 1440p dlss quality due to higher render res.

It's also down to how TAA works too and then in some games such as ghost of tshumia, higher res. assets don't load in unless a =>4k res is detected. Thing I find amusing is that 4k dlss perf not only looks better than 1440p dlss native/dlss quality but also performs about the same as dlss quality at 1440p.

4K is where it's at. Glad to see you and mrk finally see the light :D

Only took years for the true benefit to show ;) :p

It is very good now though and thankfully dlss + frame gen tech is making it a very achievable enjoyable gaming experience.

I saw it day 1. Now it only got better ;) :p

Plus it's not like what you are saying "true benefit" happened a week ago. Been like this for a few years now. But you guys were too deep down the ultrawide is life rabbit hole to see it :p:cry:

I've had 4k for the past 7 years and it's been a big fat meh :p Remove TAA and it is much less impressive and remove the issues where higher res assets don't load in and even more meh :p

But yes, ever since TAA and games have started using higher res. assets to show the benefit of higher res. displays, it's been a step in the right direction for 4k as before it was never worth the performance hit. I would say probably the past 4 years is where we have seen 4k prove to be worthwhile jumping to now especially with upscaling tech and now frame gen to keep FPS high whilst retaining great IQ or better IQ than native.

UW 5k is where it will be at though ;) :D

This is where I feel that for gamers still on 1080/1440, nvidia have got an absolute must have feature with DLDSR, side by side, 1440 with dldsr and dlss perf looks incredibly close to 4k with dlss perf. If nvidia can get this to work in borderless so it's less of a faff to use, I wouldn't have any issues going back to 1440 with DLDSR, it is that good and I'm sure there is more nvidia could do with it as it hasn't received the same level of polish/updates as DLSS.

But that is on your tv. So not quite the same when compared to high dpi monitor which is what I had ;)

No way you would be saying meh if you saw what I did. Even on old FIFA games I would see a huge difference things like grass.

Well yes higher PPI is the main thing so this definetly helps.

Biggest thing for me isn't even just seeing smaller things with more detail on 4k but just simply a clearer/cleaner image in motion now, DLDSR also helps here but I feel it is more noticeable benefit on native 4k this now.

Lol mate! :))

The only thing that bothers me a bit with 1080p is Path Tracking with RR in CB77, is not as good as it should be. But... that engine has it's own problems (the ghosting reported with frame gen or RT/PT I see it with raster as well).

With that said, I do accept a donation of the best 3x1440p displays you can get your hands on. :p
