Doctor Who

Got to say just watching that youtube video makes me want to watch the last episode again. He had the Doctor down to a tee in it. Just brilliant. He's definately grown on me.

Having said that it's probably a little down to seeing a bit of myself in him. Slightly scatty and all over the place. :p

I think Smith handles the neccesary exposition of a show like Doctor Who well. No messing about trying to make it perfect and thorough. Witter on quickly, assume other people know what you're talking about, and then dismiss it if they don't. It's much more natural feeling than actually explaining it completely each time.

Or you could stop trying to read so much into it and... this will be tough... enjoy it for what it is?!

Or if you can't do that I would suggest stopping watching :).

I do enjoy it, no really, I honestly do. It's just when I read everyone breaking things down it can sometimes be really elating but other times really deflating.

Just for the good it does, I don't think there's anything wrong with breaking things down. My engineering head can't stop that no matter how hard I try.

Suspension of disbelief? :p

Now THAT was funny. Come on guys, give me some more alternatives to saying "Ignorance is bliis".

People are starting to like the intro music now, what next :(

Tell me about it. I'm still rather attached to the 2005 version just for the way it samples the classic theme and that very cool slow motion TARDIS sync with the music.

I prefer the newest doctor who theme over all the previous ones. It has a really dark emphasis to it and a sense of something epic to come.

As weird as it is, I really don't dislike the new intro as much as I did initially. It's really grown on me too, especially when I compare them now.

I hope that you've all been accustomed to Orbitals version of Doctor Who. Now that is amazing.

I'm a massive fan of his released version, the version below was tweaked a little by Orbital for Glastonbury. I still prefer the release but maybe that's down to playing it about 50 times.

I had to remember a name at work today, her name was Donna and in my head Matt Smith's voice thoughtfully said "Donna Noble".

Thanks, come again.

My fav version of the Theme is the movie with Paul McGann. Because it focuses on the part of the theme that's mostly forgotton about and sounds much more epic with a full orchestra behind it.

OOO! This looks good. Is it a recommended watch or just crap? Any other older ones I should check out. I've watched all the Tom Baker era and loved em.

Theme tune was pretty good actually.

Just re-watched 'The Girl In The Fireplace'.... wow! Mofatt really has a way with using music so effectively, on top of stellar writing. I've found a lot of his TV shows since seeing his work on Doctor Who and he really does have a specific style that's been present since the 90's.

Was there ever a deeper meaning behind the ship being called 'SS Madame De Pompadour'? Also, what happened in France during August 1727 to Jeanne-Antoinette? The Doctor warns her to stay indoors when he first sees her in the fireplace.

One wonders, whether it would have been better if her brain, alive and functioning in a living ship would have been the better course of action. For she did indicate her desire to visit the stars in her discourse with the Doctor. What a truly wonderful companion Reinette could have made for this sad and lonely Lord of Time.

I agree, one of the best Doctor Who episodes of the new series I think. Very well done.

I don't think so. I think the robots knew the name of the ship and thought that to repair it they needed the real Madame de Pompadour.

All I can find on the web is that two of Louis XV's daughters were born in 1727.

Orbital is made up of two brothers. Surname: Hartnell, Original Hometown: Sevenoaks. :)

Yes I like this tune too. :p
