Doctor Who

Over on the Dr Who forums theres speculation that john Hurt is playing an alternate 9th doctor after Chirs Eccelstone had to pull out.

An improvemtn on previous episodes, but this collapsing universe gibbins 4 seconds to power failure, yet it flew in twice.
I don't mind them making up rubbish pseudo gubbins every episode and never bothering with continunity, but they should at least stick to the gubbins they are making up. Its not like they've scotty down in the engine room, sorting the magics.

Was I the only geek to think 'Well dont use cheap wiring then, if you are forced to use ferrite cores to stop interference'?

Better than the last episodes, but my thats all very relative...

ps3ud0

Aye, I did rather think the TARDIS took its sweet time flying around that pocket universe.

Much better than the rest of this season so far. Nice idea, some faults with the scripting of the characters, and that black mirror was horrific and unnecessary, but a big improvement on previous weeks in terms of story telling.

Moffat just doesn't have a grip on this show, his lack of attention to details is ******* me off. Last week the Doctor refered to the Tardis as a 'He' when he's met the Tardis personified in 'The Doctor's Wife' and it was a women.

Am I the only one thats finds this version of JLC kinda crap? The victorian and future one pretty much ran their episodes, 'todays' version is completely forgettable...

Was it a woman in The Doctor's Wife? Or was it just in the body of a woman who happened to be there?

No you aren't. I was really looking forward to seeing Clara travel with the Doctor after seeing her other incarnations in the series opener and the Christmas special. This current incarnation isn't anywhere near as interesting so far.

Head writer Steven Moffat liked the idea of featuring the TARDIS as a woman, believing this to be the "ultimate love story" for the Doctor.

He's also refered to her as Sexy and all sorts during the course of the show, it's always had the feeling that the TARDIS was female if anything, like how you usually refer to a car by a girls name, she's his constant companion.

Reading the wikipedia page - for what it's worth - for that episode it only says that the TARDIS' matrix was downloaded or whatever to a woman, but it doesn't make it explicitly clear that it is itself a woman.

I'm not saying you're wrong, because there are other indicators as you say, but Dr Who is a wealth of inconsistency anyway, so I'd try not to get too hung up on it.

Obviously it's not set in stone, but it seems natural and just one of the many little oversights from Moffat.

It bewilders me how the crew of writers and producers don't pick up on things like this, it's their show after all and they are paid for this.

Apart from the tardis only lasting 4 seconds yet flew in slower that an easy jet flight within the same episode issue (really these guys who write the show are capable enough to be sensible and avoid these sort of writing muck ups) it wasn't too bad. I echo the fact that the 2 previous versions of jlc have been much better than the current one. However they STILL had to touch upon love etc, when there was no reason to, leave it as a dark episode for once.....

Series only has 4 episodes to save itself, awful so far

I wasn't clear on a few things in this episode.

The 4 seconds in the pocket universe but they went back twice at their leisure. How / why did the tardis get there separately to the doctor on both occasions. I got the impression that the mirror to the pocket universe was what was allowing the tardis to spend more time there but I have no idea.

I am really losing interest in this at the moment. Next weeks teaser looked like it could be a cracker but I am pretty close to sacking it off completely. If they destroy yet another bad guy with emotions or singing or dancing or anything else that a 5 year old might decide is a good ending, I'm out. Dr Whos strength was always that it was a show for all ages, not just small children and the mentally challenged.

It really bugs me. Moffat wrote my fave eppisodes (blink, silence in the library) but now he has overall control he seems to have lost the plot, quite literlary.

I give Matt Smith his due though, he is doing a very good job of a very bad stroyline.

I think we can all assume that RTD tailored moffats scripts to fit his vision for the show, it appears that it was a perfect match.

I always said that Tennet was good because he gave the impression he could work with even some of the crappier Doctor who scripts, I guess we will see how he does with the 50th.

Anyway I like tonight’s episode, some nice atmosphere and a half decent story.
