Doctor Who

Thank god doctor who is still hip and cool for the kids though. Its genuinely painful to see shows trying to be culturally relevant. "He talks in emoji" FUUUUUUUUUU

I'm disappointed to see that Moffat is still in charge for this series despite announcing he was leaving and Chibnall would be replacing him more than a year ago. Didn't read that Moffat will be leaving at the end of this series, not after the 2016 Christmas special as I hoped. Still, at least Chibnall will get a clean slate and can choose his own Doctor and hopefully a new companion, rather than having to write for people cast by Moffat.

Most likely the new Doctor will be cast by the BBC with "input" from Chibnall. As for Capaldi I think he had so much more range than Smith I just think he has been totally wasted in the role.

It looks like the character Bill is only going to in this new series so the idea of a lady Dr drops down the order a bit.
This is the last season to be directed by Steve Moffat so we could see some major changes next time.
Andi.

TBH I thought Michelle Gomez did a great job as Missy, I don't mind them using Jon Simm's version of the master again I just hope they don't off her version of the character to do it. Given the nature of the series it's a cakewalk to set up a situation where both can exist, the bigger problem for me is writing and direction. We know Capaldi is capable, we know Gomez is capable, we know Simm is capable, but it wouldn't matter if it's Roger Delgado risen from the dead for one last run as the master if the writing is still at the same level as last season.

Was hoping to see some comments from last nights opening episode!

Thought it was very good episode and some truly scary moments, especially for the younger audience - maybe a return to the 'hide behind the settee' Doctor Who?!

Good effects, some great lines and acting from Capaldi and I'm actually enjoying the new companion. Looking forward to John Sim as i never really took to Missy, but his Master was excellent.

Onwards and upwards or the start of the descent?

I think the lack of comments is a combination of what many people think of the show now; not much, and; because of catch up TV, many don't bother to watch it live and will watch it at some point.

Anyway; Kris Marshall has been announced as Capaldi's replacement..
