Doctor Who

So it looks like a Timelord can choose not to regenrate then. Weird.

I actually think the master has regenerated off screen after we saw him burned.

I think the person picking up the ring was Lucy Saxon - she had the same red nail varnish as the hand that picked it up.

And the ending. What would the titanic be doing in the time vortex? Or has he landed it right in the titanics path

And lets hope RTD is gonna explain what the 9th doctor said in the very first episode ( Rose )

There was a picture of the doctor standing on the deck of the titanic and he said something like he ended up clinging to an iceberg.

Maybe this would be a good time to do a multi doctor story.

And why is it the titanic can rip a hole in the side of the tardis? when its survived dalek torpedoes - falling off a cliff - allsorts.

I do think this episode was a bit of a let down tbh and when i saw what was in the tocolofane balls for a moment there i thought they were dalek mutants :p

And captain jack is the face of boe, i mean WTF

Roll on xmas..

I think they had to have something or someone enter the tardis at the end otherwise how they wouldn't have set the Christmas episode up in exactly the same way they did last year.

The face of boe thing doesn't seem to make an awful lot of sense - didn't the doctor say that the face of boe was as old as the universe in the episode with all the cats? Why would he 'grow' into a giant face?

I also didn't understand the whole 'ahh we're just back to where the president of the USA has been shot - all back to normal then!'. Surely now the populace have to deal with both the PM and the president being killed along with seeing 'aliens' and then them disappearing again?

There was also another comment in this episode about the doctor once having a child - is this some massive story arc or is there something in the old doctor who's that explains this? I seem to remember something about his first partner being his granddaughter or something like that - or have I just made that up? Either way it seems to be being mentioned more and more.

Well as he can't die the explanation will probably be him evolving over millions/billions of years.

I'm sure they'll explain it as something else... anyway didn't everyone already know about the ship over London and some other things in the show? So it doesn't make a huge difference.

5 billion, it's clearly mentioned that thats the date in the eps with Boe.

Sadly, I think that'll turn out to be Russell T. Davies using Dr. Who to get his political stance across. Then again I am a cynical sod.

Okay, so I'm not sure if this has been said or not but I thought the whole Titanic thing was very tongue in cheek. I thought it suggested the iceberg the Titantic hit when it crashed was actually the Tardis (ala the squiggly wiggly time thing in Blink). I thought it was just a funny moment more than anything serious.

Overall I thought it was a pretty weak episode though.

The Master got whacked! Hardly surprising as John Simm's about as fearsome as a doorstop - a cool guy but not the right one to play The Master.

I totally disagree.
The "Master" is mad and has been ever since he was first shown the vortex.
The Master's role is as a nemesis, he isn't supposed to be neccessarily that fearsome.
He needs to be able to "command the stage" at times, which he did throughout the storyline.
He also needs to show just how mad he is.

I thought Simm's played him extremely well and I hope he comes back to reprise it.

I also thought he played the master very well. But it seems likely that if / when the master comes back it won't be him playing him (his body died...).

I really don't pay that much attention to them, if I'm honest :p

Anyway, 5 billion is 'billions', or 'millions'.

I quite enjoyed that episode, but I'm far from a Dr. Who expert/fan so I can't overly criticise, other than I thought it was just a bit over the top to suggest that getting everyone/almost everyone to think "Doctor" at one time would make him levitate and gain super-powers like he did.

BTW - Does anyone know the song that was played at the beginning of the episode when the master was pushing the doctor around in the wheel chair?

It was the Scissor Sisters - 'I Can't Decide' from the 'Ta-Dah' album! Now if you ask how a metalhead knows this I'll refuse to answer. :p

Yeah i agree its there just for the Xmas special.

I thought it was a poor end to the series the 1st part was much much better.

Seems they are already just cycling the same story lines over and over and over. Real shame.

I think the Ring is like the Watch!... The Master up-Loaded himself to it as he was dying!... and the Hand was his wife retreving it from the ashes to Download him into a new body (hers or a stolen one!!)

Same! Simm was just perfect :D :D

Master got well and truely pwned tho  But he must be coming back  That hand can't be the hand of his "wife" tho can it? The Doctor wouldn't have left her there or even taken her to the end of the universe...
