Doctor Who

Personally I do not think Hawking had any bearing on Davros at all.
Genius in a wheel chair.
Genius basically in a wheel chair.

Stephen hawking should have been quite well known around the time davros entered the scene.

Writers often take real world history etc and adapt it into their work.,

next you will be telling us star wars, no connection to that German crazy party at all.

BTW guess what the daleks are also based on.

I agree with Steve5424, Davros first appear on TV in 1975. Stephen Hawkins was barely known outside of academia then. He only got his speech "box" and automated wheelchair in 1985. Until then he was pushed around in a normal wheelchair and spoke normally. So you think that the writers of Doctor Who used time travel to base Davros on Hawkins? Never heard of such rubbish. Davros was based on the Mekon from Dan Dare. And once they had what the Daleks looked like, it was obvious to put him on half a Dalek. It was only much later in 2005 that Davros was described as a cross between Hitler and Hawkins but that wasnt by the creator, just the actor playing Davros at the time. But its more a case of by then Hawkins had become to more resemble Davros (if you know what I mean) rather than the other way around.

And as for the Daleks, their ideals were based on the Nazis however their appearance was not

The original design was created by Raymond Cusick, an in-house designer at the BBC. He worked from the description in writer Terry Nation’s script of “Hideous machine-like creatures. They have no human features. They are legless, moving on a round base. A lens on a flexible shaft acts as an eye. Arms with mechanical grips for hands. "Terry Nation said that his only form of inspiration came from a TV broadcast of the Georgian State Dancers who, with their long skirts hiding their legs, seemed to be gliding across the floor. He said it was that strangeness of movement he wanted to capture in the Daleks - creatures with no apparent motive power.

So you aren't a fan of inclusion or diversity then?

Steve you would defend a turd if they stuck a flashing blue light on the top of it.

But to answer your loaded question, yes, yes i am - what i'm not a fan of is forcing the issue. I really thought the trans and disabled people were bad actors. They could have got better actors able bodied or otherwise. You also cherry picked your question from my response as i also said MM was bad in this. She is neither trans, disabled or Martian.

what a truly awful show this is. i had the misfortune of being in a room in which it was playing on a tv last week.
reminded me why i stopped paying for a tv licence many years ago.

Yea it's awful.

I used to like Dr Who back in the day, I mean like in the 80's, but I was young so maybe didn't know better.

Any of the modern version is horrendous, as you say been in a room with it on a few times over the years, it's like a really bad theatre performance.

And then the casting for the new doctor, I'm thinking yup..... sums that up.

Not really no.

Trans Rose actress sucked - pick people due to their acting chops, not because they tick a box.

Story - was actually ok if it had dropped the force wokeness.

DT - awesome.

I’d actually disagree with those points!

No complaints about Yasmin Finneys performance playing Rose. helps that she’s hot though!

However the story was garbage and David Tenants performance felt phoned in. Though, in his defence, the script material he had to work with was terrrible!

Overall, even taking out the political agenda pushing and ESG pandering it was still a weak episode.

I’ll probably still watch tonight’s episode as I’m a glutton for punishment and I’m keen to see what they do next!

She was just very flat to me, 0 emotion. I could understand this AFTER they did the regen thing ie all knowledge comes flooding in and they have mega awareness of everything. But she was meant to be a teenager and there was no emotion when name called, finding the alien, life in danger etc. Maybe this will be explained, but she's not for me just yet.

I'm not a fan of NPH outside of HIMYM - so we'll see how the next episodes go.
