Doctor Who

Can't we have a series without daleks/cybermen :/ - they've been done to death in rescent seasons. More new things :(

Although I'm sure last week I saw a glimpse of the statues in blink. Hopefully that will be a great episode. The first is one of my favourite Dr Who episodes.

I agree with the first, however the next episode does look a little different from the usual dalek boredom.

and yes the blink angels are coming back, one of my favourites as well. The great thing about Moffat is he comes up with really interesting new alien concepts.

This eps makes me wonder if Matt smith will be able to handle the more dramatic moments all well as David tennet used to.

Im from London and having to watch all these cringe worthy actors with their "strike a light guvner" accents really annoys me.

I watch it but i find myself zoning out during the boring bits... there's always a scene just long enough for me to go make a coffee or just yawn..

Why did an animal from space eat "food" as we know it???
Did they actually explain why they chose the stupid "spinning head" machine box things, what part of the Uk was that meant to symbolize?? Evil Clacton Pier as a kid ??

Really lookign forward to next weeks episode as it actually looks a bit more sci-fi than spooky or heart warmingly " lets do it for the children" BS

I have liked both episodes so far, I don't watch much DrWho because I have found some of the previous storylines a bit too far fetched, yes it is scifi but some of the stuff wasn't scifi or fantasy, just odd and a bit lame. Like a show for children.

I am liking this Dr. Not that the old one was bad so I think maybe it is a combination of the writing and non annoying companion as well.

I dunno it just seems a bit "better". More up there with real scifi drama and less like Torchwood and the older series. I don't want it to become BSG but a bit more "realism" isn't a bad thing.

Will definitely be watching next weeks.

Don't look into Doctor Who in that much detail, none of them will hold up and it will just spoil your enjoyment of it. It isn't meant to be a realistic sci-fi.

This episode was awesome simply because it had the demon headmaster in it! :p

That crack was there at the end of the episode too although I'm not sure what it's meant to be.

Can't wait for next week, only time I really enjoy it is when the Daleks are in it.

Think it's kinda lame their using a plot with the British using Daleks, the Daleks would be more suited to the Nazi's, especially the old skool Renegade Daleks.

Churchill clearly has no idea they're evil. He's not using them because of their brutality.

cracks in time/space. Prisoner Zero told us in the first episode.

somethings causing the cracks and that the pandorica is open and that silence will fall.

on a summary of the episode, not moffats best, but the last 10-15 minutes i really enjoyed.

can clearly see moffat will be playing on the humanity of the doctor. he was struggling with feeling connected towards the end of Tennants era, now moreso he's looking quite disconnected, his remarks towards humans in general was quite nasty for him.

good start to the season, and i think its only going to get better.

You do have a point, sometimes people tend to overanalyse films/shows and it can spoil your enjoyment.

However on the other hands, its science fiction so things really should make some..meaningful sense. I know Doctor Who has had some really weird episodes that defy logic. There are plenty of people that get put off by that.

While Doctor Who is really a UK based show its still aired internationally so its going to be appealing to the mass sci fi market as well as your average British family and if theres anything sci fi fans like to do is pick things apart lol. Just check out any discussion forum on say Lost, Stargate, Star Trek, BSG etc. I know Doctor who is silly but its still got to keep up with the competition.

As long as we don't get any silly plot ideas like Peter Kay monsters or sex gas then its all good. I just hope that Moffat has a better understanding of these things than Davies :).

but the whale still gets to eat people?

i dont understand why it would need to eat people, it can eat whatever it is suposed to eat naturally, i dont understand why the ship needed an engine and to travel at speed anyway....

they never said they had a destination or anywhere to be? once they were in space surely that was all they needed

I find it a little odd that people are talking about the plot holes and theoretical plot holes (what would a space whale eat) in a series that has always been about entertaining people and not really caring about the science. Watch any of your favourite shows and there will be plot holes everywhere, and that is when they are creating a drama for christ sake. In fact, just go watch 24, the tech and plot lines in that are so close to reality it scares me.

Just sit back, watch and enjoy.

Possibly people talk about them because maybe not all of the "plotholes" are actually plotholes, maybe some of them are plots, like the machine saying that Amy was 1300 years old, possibly thats for a reason which will be revealed later
