Draytek Vigor 130 and FTTC SNR setting increased sync

I updated to the alternative firmware and my stats have increased and my interleave depth has reduced instantly slightly from 581 to 577.

The change could just be down to the time of day when you've re-synced the line (have seen this myself on different equipment in the past). Less noise at the time when you re-sync will help but things may return later on.

I would be interested to see how you do with the alternative firmware as my Vigor was already using the BT 3.8.3 firmware from the start.

If my upstream sync is at the maximum attainable rate, will that limit increasing my download sync speed further which still has some headroom?

Edit: Just installed the latest BT firmware, download attainable rate has increased further, but upload is still the same. SNR is -4db.

I've been having some issues tweaking my SNR to improve by downstream rate. I'm seeing an attainable DS rate of about 52Mbps but actual DS rate of about 45Mbps, I'd like to push it up if possible. US rate is capped out with both actual and attainable at 18.7Mbps.

I set the SNR margins delta to -50 but it made no change to the current SNR margin -- why might that be?

@macdude you have the same as me, my US is maxed out, which I think is capping the DS from improving any further.

But since my last post a few days ago when I updated the firmware to the BT version, my stats have improved a little. My DS used to be around 29mb.

I've got a Vigor 130 in bridge mode hooked up to an Asus AC68U running merlin firmware. Can anybody point me at an idiots guide to access the Vigor 130 settings so I can have a fiddle (I'm on Sky VDSL if it makes any difference)

There is a guide on the Draytek page. It took me ages to get it working. I had to use vlans and set the port as tagged for the vigor settings subnet. I can have a proper look at my settings tomorrow, but it required a managed switch to do it that way.

As above the 165 has been available in the EU for a little while and includes 30a/35b support, it’s the 166 that is going to bring g.fast support ‘soon’.

It can't come soon enough given that the Openreach Huawei-MT992 modems are now going for over £200 on eBay.

It was £275, things on eBay sell for what people are prepared to pay for them, as it stands that was the only one available for sale other than buying 500 wholesale.
