*** Elden Ring ***

Yeah, my money is on april fools. Posted yesterday and although Cavill is a huge warhammer fan, I cannot find any other source anywhere (apart from wargamer.com) where there is any mention of it. If it was true you would think at the very least that FromSoftware and/or Henry Cavills own pages and social media would mention it, but nada.

I'm going to start fresh I think, but I could use a little build help. What I would like to do is go for a melee shield type and throw in some faith spells to boot. A Paladin / spellsword of sorts. I've tried this before but my damage with faith scaling was quite poor. How would you guys go about it?

Confessor is a good start for this, good strength and faith from the off, i started with it and got pretty tanky fast, can get some pretty big bonk strength weapons and turtle with tower shields while miracles just amp your damage up even more.

You can get some decent faith weapons mid game, there's not too many early on though. Some ashes of war will let you change the scaling so thats worth looking at too.

These are mainly focussed on melee with weapon abilities, but you could adapt this to include some faith spells too.

Managed Godrik first try but I skipped a lot of Stormveil so I'll definitely explore before moving on.

Pretty epic fight, scraped by but wasn't ready for the grab and
flamethrower
:D

EDIT: My god, that
thing
in the underground... :D

I was really struggling with my dex/str build so I re-specced to a str/int build instead and what a difference its made! Using Starscourge and the mimic tear now and I'm just destroying everything. The 3 bosses I had previously ran up against a wall for were beaten first go, 3 in a row! Got the talisman that lets you summon without actually using any FP which is nice but the only downside is Ive always used builds with shields so its getting used to not soaking up damage. Totally changed the game for though and Im enjoying it loads more.

There's some really nice intelligence melee weapons too, it only gets better the further you go.

Going through the capital I was a little concerned that I was blowing through bosses too easily(thought I might have overlevelled but I haven't. Nowhere near!) . The two main ones in that area lasted seconds against me... But then I got to the next area and everything is destroying me. One of the great things about this game is how each area you go to seems to up the stakes. Every time you think you've mastered an area they switch it up.

I specifically put a few points into stamina before Stormveil and Godrik not to have too much health or damage output but when I faced him at level 37-38 (which is slightly above recommended, I believe) he was still doing a lot of damage and would be able to kill me in seconds, same with some mobs.

I suppose it's going to be tough for pure melee:p

Considering getting this now.

Have from software fixed the performance/shader compilation issues officially yet?

Started as a wretch.

Died a lot but killed the beastmaster of whatever (cave guy) at level 1 with default club and no armour.

Not using guides. Probably should. Just found a shield at last in a little encampment near a guy that teaches ashes of war or something

I've only just watched a review of this and I think, in particular, the environmental aspects of the game look superb.

Do enemies still respawn after killing them?

Yeah. Soon as you rest. Its how the grinding is done really so I cant see how they could do anything other than that really.
