Rubbish, bring in Allardyce. What we need is a successful ENGLISH manager, like Allardyce. A proven track record managing at the highest level, with a great record.

I must go against the general consensus as I have an initial bad feeling over Scolari getting the job.

My ideal candidate would have been O'Neill, but I dont think that was ever going to happen.

I'm only relieved it looks like Mclaren isnt getting it and that means we hopefully wont have the same kow-towing to players administration that we've had for the last 5 years.

You cant argue with his record winning the world cup with Brazil, getting to the final of euro 2004 with Portugal beating England both times on the way, he's got better credentials than Eriksson had when he got the job.

We could have had worse than Big Phil, however I am conserned that he has had no experiance of english football (other than putting us out of tournaments).

Will he be able to grasp our way of playing or will he try to find a brazilian/continental style?

Can he speak english?

I have no problems with foriegn managers taking the English job. I'd prefer they had EPL experience though.

I think he's the best man for the job. waaaaaaaaaaaaay better that mclaren. I'm reasonably happy with that.

I'd have to agree, the "top" English Managers are all at average mid-table clubs and none of them have any real experience of Europe etc.

If we need any English manager look no further than Glen Roeder (highest placed English manager in Premiership!

i 100% agree with you.

yeah sure hes good at international level but like you say he has no experiance of the english game or play style which is very different to other countrys.

i can see it backfiring.

Don’t get me wrong I would love an English manager…. But seriously are any of them up to the task? Have any of them achieved anything to warrant the England job, have any of them even seen any CL action?

I think Big Phil is the only option

Given the rough ride that Sven got/gets form the media I doubt Scolari will last long. He can learn English, yes, can he learn to cope with the rabid sports press, not a chance.

If he does take the job I wonder how easily he could adapt his skills to the non-Latin game? Or how easily could the England players adapt to his coaching?

He's got 2 years to sort that out before the next big tournament so in my eyes that's plenty of time

Good choice by the FA, hopefully Scolari will accept it

Hmmmm Scolari as england manager??...good luck to him is all i can say. Although he is a proven winner...won the wrold cup in 2002 with Brazil so perhaps he could give england what they so badly want ie the World Cup.

Hopefully he will be able to handle the utterly stupid media attention that seems to go with the job, hope hes made out of tougher skin that Sven and lets hope he doesnt do any samba's with his pa's or secretaries lol
