vandle can tell you all about cattermole, came on at newcastle and ran the show. and coming through now is lads like davies, bates, graham, wheater, taylor etc plus a stack more, curbs is nowhere near

Face it you ***, you were never the FA's choice, Scolari was, you got it as he refused it, which you should have done, as they didn't want you for the Manager.

They still do not want you as the Manager, they had to give it to you as they had no choice.

Yes Riggott was signed from Derby along with Christie. I think its a good choice from what was available, Scolari turned it down but who else is there? Surely Mclaren is as good a choice as anyone & good luck to him I say.

Hes a decent coach, got experience with big name players, got european experience & has been around the national team learning off sven along the way. Cant really knock that, its a lot more than Aladyce or Curbs could have bought to the party, only time will tell if its a good choice but for me theres not really any better alternative.

Does Sven actually give any instructions at training? I always just imagined him in the changing rooms banging anything that moves while McClaren organises a game of hopscotch out in the playground for the players. As such, I don't expect many changes when he takes over as full on manager.

Unless they can somehow get Scolari to come is as 'assistant coach'.

Some of the replies in here are very childish. He was the FAs choice, but albeit not their first, and with people like you are already getting on his back, what chance does he have? Leave him alone to do his job as he'll have a hard enough time with the press, who have cost us 2 out of the last 3 managers.

I for one am glad he got the job, not because he's English, but because he's been part of the England setup for a while now so there will be some continuity.

I don't quite know what you mean by that.

If you mean England are perpetual under-achievers then the manager has only got this country's best to choose from, we don't have the stength in depth that the worlds best countries have, like Brazil and France. For example, we can't even replace Rooney ffs! I dont think it would have made any difference had Scolari been given the job. Accept what we have, and do the best we can.

England has an embarrassment of riches where players are concerned. We just need a manager who knows what he's doing. McLaren is useless, I would have preferred even Allardyce - at least he has a personality.

He was instrumental in turning a 2-1 lead into a 2-2 draw.
Played in Newcastles win at the Riverside too if Im not mistaken.
